Alfred McPeck

The private graveside service for Alfred McPeck of Wadena, MN, will be held at the Wadena Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be Jarod, Cassidy and Sophia Rose Drobny. Alfred, age 78, passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2020, at the Green Pine Acres Nursing Home in Menahga, MN. Alfred was born to Alfred and Dorothy (Berg) McPeck on December 8, 1941, in Wadena, MN. Alfred grew up and lived his entire life on the family farm. Never married, his sister, nephews and their families, were the foundation of his life. Although quiet by nature, his love for his family was evident. Alfred’s life was hampered the last few years with major medical issues, but he always bounced back. Until cancer hit. He no longer had the energy to enjoy his favorite things. He loved going to the area polka dances, the music and catching up with friends. He loved going to Menahga to the Cottage House Cafe, his favorite restaurant, where the ladies gave him extra attention. Alfred loved family 4th of July at the lake. He loved attending the Cajun Fest at Northern Lights Casino; he has more beads than New Orleans! Since being more home bound he found enjoyment in phone calls, visits, and watching the multitudes of birds outside his window. He will always be remembered for his great memory of detail to facts, dates, birthdays, events. Did you know that robins should be back by March 12th? Did you know he had more weather data than the weather man? Did you know if you said you’d call at 8am, it had to be 8am? Alfred’s nephews loved being at the farm, feeling a connection to their grandparents and taking care of Alfred. Without them, Wendy, and his great friend Daryl Huwe, he wouldn’t have been able to stay at the farm as long as he did. Thank you. Preceding Alfred in death were his parents Alfred and Dorothy; and sister Judy Redetzke. He is is survived by his sister Donna Drobny of Buffalo, MN; nephews Scott (Wendy) Drobny of Sauk Centre, MN and Patrick (Melissa) Drobny of Madison, MN; great nephew Jarod Drobny; and great nieces Cassidy and Sophia Rose Drobny; aunt Thelma; several cousins; along with his friend, Daryl Huwe. The family wishes to thank Green Pine Acres in Menahga for caring for Alfred recently until his time of death, and Schuller Family Funeral Homes for providing personal and professional services.
