The memorial service celebrating the life of Arthur Halverson of rural Staples will be held at 11:00a.m. on Saturday, January 11, at Faith Lutheran Church in Staples Visitation will be at the church on Saturday, from 9:30a.m. until the time of the service. He attended country school through the eighth grade and graduated from Staples High School in 1962. Art worked a couple of different jobs in Staples and quickly realized he would need to make the move to the Twin Cities for more employment opportunities. On April 24, 1965, Art married the love of his life Judy Herman at Olive Branch Lutheran Church in Coon Rapids, MN. They purchased their first home in Blaine, where they raised their three children. Most of Art’s career he worked as a heavy equipment operator with Local Union 49. After retirement, Art and Judy built their dream home on the Halverson family property near Staples which is where he truly felt at home. Art loved being outdoors whether he was taking his dog Sadie for their evening ride in his side-by-side or hunting with family & friends. Art passed peacefully at his home in rural Staples, MN, on January 6, 2025. Art, as he was known by many, was an inspiration in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. He was an amazing husband, brother and father and was an extremely proud grandpa. His passing has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by him. Art is survived by his loving wife of nearly 60 years, Judy; children Troy Halverson (Nancy), Tina Klein, Tanya Goodroad (Dean); 6 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; sister Sandy Becker; brother-in-law Ron Woods; along with many nieces, nephews and friends. Preceding Art in death were his parents Vern & Evelyn; sister Carol Halverson (Woods); and brother-in-law Robert Becker.
