The Mass of Christian Burial for Barbara Schertler of Wadena, will be celebrated at 11:00a.m. on Tuesday March 11, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Wadena with Father Rick Aubol as celebrant. Visitation will be held Monday, from 4:00 until 7:00p.m. at the Johnson-Schuller Chapel in Wadena, with prayers at 6:00 and Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will resume at the church on Tuesday from 9:30a.m. until the time of the Mass. Born on October 26, 1943, in Little Falls, MN, Barb was the first child of Florian and Muriel (Anderson) Kliber. She met her future husband, John Schertler while attending beautician classes at the Wadena Technical School and they were united in marriage on June 22, 1968, in Little Falls, MN. They raised their two loving children, Ron and Nancy, at John's childhood farm on the Leaf River bottom near Wadena. With her warm smile and generous spirit, Barb dedicated her life to her family and community. She shared her time and talents as a 4-H leader with the Wadena Juniors, a Foster Grandmother at WDC School, and as a dedicated volunteer at the Wadena Senior Center, Garden Club, and Christian Mothers. She was a lifelong, devoted member of St. Ann's Catholic Church. Barb's remarkable green thumb was evident in her beautifully tended gardens, which earned her the honor of "Yard of the Month" multiple times. She found great joy in nurturing her flowers and sharing the beauty of her garden with others. Alongside her community endeavors, Barb's heart belonged to her family. Preceding Barb in death were her parents; her beloved husband John; brother David Kliber; sisters-in-law Sandy Kliber and Dot Schertler; brother-in-law Duane Schertler, and grandson Lance Pierce. She is survived by her children, Ron (Grace) Schertler and Nancy (Eric) Pierce both of Deer Creek; grandchildren, Zachary (Cheyenne) Schertler, Colby (fiancée Kenzie Carsten) Schertler and Lexi Pierce; siblings, Jerry (Marlys) Kliber, Richard Kliber, Sandy Kliber, and Mike (Amy) Kliber; sisters-in-law Sue Kliber and Joanne (Tony) Kuefler; many nieces and nephews; along with a host of friends. Her vibrant spirit will live on, and her memory will be cherished by all who knew her. Serving as pallbearers will be Jason Kliber, Gerald Kliber, Jr, Dan Kliber, Brad Kliber, Joel Kliber, Ryan Kliber, and Brandon Kliber.
