Bud Rach

Reinhardt (Bud) Rach II of Wadena died December 10, 2005 at his home under hospice care. Bud was born in Bartlett Township on March 28, 1929 to parents Reinhardt Rach I (Rhiny) and Lydia Grewe Rach. He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Bartlett Township. He graduated from Bertha-Hewitt High School in 1947. He worked as an electrician in South Dakota prior to his marriage to Lucille Dovenmuehle on September 17, 1950. After marriage to Lucille, he farmed in the Bertha area where the first three children of his children, Rhonda, Geri, and Reinhardt III (Dick) were born. In 1960, the family moved to Fergus Falls where he worked for Mills Fleet Farm. While living in Fergus Falls, the last of his four children, Daland, was born. In 1965 the family returned to the Wadena area where Bud worked selling insurance for AAA and selling cars for Huber Motors. He returned to school in 1971 to earn an Associates Degree in Agricultural Business from Pipestone Technical College in Pipestone, MN and subsequently returned to farming. Bud retired from farming in 2001. Bud was an excellent marksman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, buying and selling machinery, visiting with friends at the local cafÚ, and playing cards and games with his children and grandchildren. He is survived by: his wife of 55 years, Lucille; daughter Rhonda and husband John Westcott of Centennial, Colorado; daughter Geri Santos-Rach and grandchildren Cathleen and Benjamin of Aurora, Colorado; son Reinhardt III (Dick) and wife Susie of Ely, Minnesota; and, son Daland, his wife Gail, and grandchildren Kelly and Danny of Glencoe, Minnesota. He is also survived by brothers Ernie and Orville Rach and sister Sylvia Zacharias, all currently living in the Wadena area. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Elnora Gaugert, and brothers Walter, Melvin, Norman, Harry, Lawrence, and Lester. Funeral services will be held on Tues., December 13th, at 11:00 AM in the St. John Lutheran Church in Wadena with the Rev. Gary Rokenbrodt officiating. Pallbearers for the service will be Gary Zacharias, Steve Gaugert, Bruce Rach, Brad Rach, Paul Rach & Ken Ostlund.
