Dale E. Miller

The celebration of life open house for Dale E. Miller of Wadena, will be held on Friday, October 14, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the VFW, Elmer Goche Post 3922, in Wadena, MN. Friends and family are cordially invited to gather and share memories of Dale. Dale, age 72, lost his battle with stomach cancer and passed away with loved ones by his side on September 11, 2022, at his home in Wadena, MN. Dale was born to Gordon and Mildred (Sheveland) Miller on May 8, 1950, in Wadena, MN. He was off to an early start having learned to read at the age of 3 and playing piano at area churches when he was 4! As a youth he played baseball and neighborhood games when not hunting or fishing with his brother. In 1968, Dale graduated in the top 10% of his class at Wadena High School. He furthered his education by attending Bemidji State and Moorhead State Colleges majoring in math and art. While in high school he started painting signs and later established Miller Signs in Wadena, a familiar business to locals for 50 years. In his adult years, Dale served as a pitman and co-owned a stock car with his brother and they raced for many years in Alexandria and Weetown, near Fergus Falls. NASCAR was a favorite interest along with watching world Olympics and various sports. He also did 4-wheeling, played golf, softball, hockey, fantasy football, worked jigsaw puzzles, bowled and was the bowling league secretary. He enjoyed winter fishing and deer hunting, processing venison, gardening, and canning. Dale met Ruth Triebenbach in 1976 and they soon became lifetime mates. Preceding Dale in death were his parents, Gordon and Mildred. He will always be remembered by his loving companion Ruth; brother, Allen (Susie) Miller; nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews; Ruth’s siblings: Lin (Mark) Johnson, Danny (Kathy) Triebenbach and John Triebenbach; along with friends, neighbors and customers. Burial will be held at a later date in Wadena Cemetery, Wadena, MN. Memorials may be directed to where Dale and Ruth found his favorite four-legged friend, Stormy Sue, Wadena County Humane Society.
