Dixie Murray

The funeral service celebrating the life of Dixie Murray of Wadena will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 7, at the Joyful Spirit Methodist Church in Wadena. Visitation will be held on Thursday, from 4-8:00 p.m. at the Johnson-Schuller Chapel in Wadena and will resume on Friday at the Joyful Spirit Church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Wadena, MN. With family and close friends at her side, Dixie passed away peacefully on July 28, 2026, at Bethany on the Lake, Alexandria, MN, with compassionate and tender care by the Bethany staff and Vivie Hospice. She confidently and bravely faced living with cancer for the last few years. Dixie Rae Lynk was born to Clarence "Irvan" and Hazel (Daggett) Lynk on April 29, 1948, in Bemidji, MN. She graduated with the Sebeka High School Class of 1966. Her education continued at the Wadena Vocational Technical School with a focus on business and computer data entry. While in high school, Dixie met Joseph Murray of Wadena. Many dates were at the Wadena roller skating rink! They had a private wedding on March 16, 1968, in Spokane, WA. With Joe stationed in the US Army, a wedding reception was later held at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Wadena, where they started a family, raising Jennifer and Jason. Farming was a big part of their lives together, having horses and cattle throughout the years. Dixie was proud to have worked her entire career at Mason Brothers Wholesale, serving the company for 47 years. Through the years, Dixie’s interests included horseback riding, roller skating, bowling, flower gardening, playing cards with family and friends, days at the lake, and traveling with her companion, Bill Kern. Most of all, she treasured time shared with her children, their families, and friends. Preceding Dixie in death were her husband, Joe (2007); parents, Irvan and Hazel; siblings, Dale Lynk and Ila Nell “Sis” Ketchum; and parents-in-law, Asher and Norene Murray. Forever remembering Dixie will be her loving children, Jennifer (Troy) Huebner of Buffalo and Jason (Heidi) Murray of Parkers Prairie; grandchildren: Madelyn (friend, Joseph Hoppe), Devin and Tanner Huebner, and Brinna and Wyatt Murray (friend, Cheyann Schramel); sister, Marian Davis of Staples; companion, Bill Kern of Hewitt; along with numerous extended Murray and Lynk family members and friends. Honorary casket bearers will be Brinna Murray, Madelyn Huebner and Cheyann Schramel. Serving as casket bearers will be Devin Huebner, Wyatt Murray, Tanner Huebner, Joseph Hoppe, Kevin Stevens and Jeff Stevens. The family extends a special thank you to Astera Health System, Coborn Cancer Center, Mayo Clinic, Vivie Hospice and Bethany on the Lake for their dedicated care of Dixie over the last several months.
