Dolores Schwartz

The Mass of Christian Burial for Dolores Frances Schwartz, age 92, of Wadena, will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 20, 2014 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Wadena, with Father Aaron Kuhn as celebrant. Friends may call on Sunday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Johnson-Schuller Chapel in Wadena, with Christian Mothers Rosary at 5:00 and Prayers at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will resume on Monday, at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass. Under hospice care at Knute Nelson Care Center in Alexandria, MN, Dolores passed away on Tuesday, October 14, 2014. Dolores was born to Frank and Margaret (Vorderbruggen) Klinkner on May 16, 1922, in Bluffton, MN. On September 17, 1940, Dolores was united in marriage to Leo William Schwartz, in Bluffton. They made their home in the Bluffton and Wadena area where her days were filled with the tasks of a homemaker, farm wife and mother. To get things done her hands were never idle but busy with embroidery, crocheting, quilting, gardening and baking. She also enjoyed dancing, traveling, and an occasional water fight! Most of all, she loved to serve others through mission work, and spending time with her treasured family. They found her to be a strong & determined lady, who served others and lived a good life. Friends often recall how she always wore her “Sunday Best” to church each week. She was involved with Christian Mothers, the Marian Mission Circle of Verndale, Mission Circle in Wadena, along with the V.F.W. Auxiliary. She will certainly be missed by her family and friends. Dolores was preceded in death by her husband Leo on March 6, 1996; infant daughter Mary; parents Frank and Margaret; brothers and sisters-in-law Francis (Mary), Leo (Bernice), Martin, Everett (Bea), Arnold and Orville Klinkner; sister and brother-in-law Agatha (Leo) Mack, and infant sisters Margaret and Christina; sister-in-law Alyce Klinkner and brother-in-law Hugo Heiling. She is survived by her son Duane (Marguerite) of Coon Rapids; daughter Esther (Alan) Freitag of Verndale; grandchildren Heidi Schwartz, Kari (Chris) Shotley, Nathan (friend Debbie Payne) Schwartz, Chris (Kris) Freitag, and Karin (Scott) Duncan; great-grandchildren Sam & Jacob Freitag, Ethan & Carter Duncan and Cole & Reese Shotley; brothers Melvin (friend Mary) Klinkner of Stewart, Alfred (Nancy) Klinkner of New Ulm and Luverne (Sue) Klinkner of Eden Valley; sisters Geraldine (Richard) Roesch of New Ulm and Luella Heiling of New Brighton; aunt Mae Vorderbruggen; sisters-in-law Cloe Klinkner and Shirley Klinkner; along with many nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Heidi Schwartz, Kari Shotley, Karin Duncan and Kris Freitag. Serving as pallbearers will be Nathan Schwartz, Chris Freitag, John Klinkner, Nick Heiling, Chris Shotley and Scott Duncan. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Wadena, MN.
