Elizabeth Kern

The Mass of Christian Burial for Elizabeth Kern of Perham and formerly of Wadena, will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May, 29, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Wadena with Father Aaron Kuhn as celebrant. A Prayer service will begin at 4:00 on Thursday with visitation to follow until 6:00 p.m. at the Johnson-Schuller Chapel in Wadena. Visitation will resume at the church on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Elizabeth, age 95, passed away with family by her side on May 25, 2020, at Perham Living Center in Perham, MN. Elizabeth “Betty” Theresa Yungbauer was born to Johne and Amelia (Frediel) Yungbauer on March 18, 1925, at their farm near Blue Grass, MN. In 1954 she received her GED from Wadena High School. She enjoyed observing nature and loved spending time with her family. She lived with a faith-filled heart and made everyone feel welcome in her home. Elizabeth will be remembered by her children Jim (Janet) Kern of Deer Creek, Victoria (Dean) Ness of Wadena, Joanne Kern of Wadena, Theresa (Tim) Mann of Baton Rouge, LA, Anna (Kevin) Kampsula of New York Mills, Diane (Mike) Diamond of Minneapolis, Charlotte (Ken) Rader of Frazee, and Loretta (Hoyt) Peterson of St. James; daughter-in-law Connie (Darrold †) Kern of Little Falls; 16 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; along with brothers John Yungbauer of Blue Grass and Albert (Karen) Yungbauer of Verndale; and sister Lucy Braith of Wadena. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents Johne and Amelia; brothers Joseph and Peter Yungbauer; sister Earnistina Kern; son Darrold Kern, and grandchildren Bradley Zutter, Baby T. Mann and others lost to her in life. Serving as pallbearers will be Sara Zutter, Dylan Kern, Jeramy Ness, Jamie Kern, Shanda Anderson, Shane Rader, Jason Kern, Jennifer Sieleni, Hollie Peterson and Luke Peterson. Honorary pallbearers will be Greg Zutter, Audryanna Mann, Catherine Cortez, Kyle Mann, Lance Peterson, Kelsie & Skyler Benke, Baize & Everly Stafki, Eric, Dylan & Lydia Ness, Trevon & Kenley Anderson, Andy, Bailey, Avery & Ellie Rader and Sophie Kern. Burial will be in held in Calvary Cemetery, Wadena, MN.
