Florence Goeden

The Mass of Christian Burial for Florence Goeden of Wadena will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 19 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Wadena, with Father Aaron Kuhn as celebrant. Visitation will be held at the Johnson-Schuller Chapel in Wadena on Sunday from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. with Christian Mother’s Rosary at 5:00 and Prayers at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will resume at the church on Monday from 9:30 AM until the time of Mass. Florence, two months shy of her 96th birthday, passed away surrounded by her family on Tuesday, September 13, 2016 under the gentle care of Knute Nelson Hospice and the staff at Serenity Living Solutions in Sebeka, MN. Florence was born to Emil and Mary (Guck) Rajkowski on November 28, 1920 in Mayhew Lake Township, MN, where she grew up. Florence was united in marriage with Francis Joseph Goeden on June 3, 1947 in Mayhew Lake. For nearly 40 years they lived on a farm southwest of Wadena before retiring in 1983 to a small hobby farm northwest of Wadena. After losing her husband, Florence moved to Humphrey Manor in 2009, and in 2014 to Serenity Living Solutions in Sebeka, formerly known as Heritage House. Florence found her creative outlet through crafting beautiful flower gardens, quilting and baking. Her love of music manifested itself in square dancing with her husband. She also enjoyed playing cards and teaching her many grandchildren to bake and to box! She was a vibrant, passionate and determined woman who lived a long, loving life. She will be greatly missed. Florence was preceded in death by her husband Francis on April 19, 2008; parents Emil and Mary; daughter Anna Marie; brothers Clarence, Lawrence, Edward, Henry and Tony Rajkowski; and sisters Loretta, Margaret, Helen and Rita. Florence is survived by her sons, Robert of Watson, James (Jane) of Wadena, Michael of Eugene, OR, and Cary (Diana) of Wadena; daughters, Mary (Rob) Ollie of Meridian, ID, Patricia (Mark) Schrom of Moorhead, Helen (Colin) Goeden of Apple Valley, and Nancy (Zack) Hansen of Lindstrom; 16 grandchildren & 6 great-grandchildren; along with brother Richard Rajkowski of Mayhew Lake. Serving as pallbearers will be Robert Goeden, James Goeden, Michael Goeden, Cary Goeden, Daniel Goeden and Duncan Brownlow. Burial will be next to her husband in Calvary Cemetery, Wadena, MN.
