Florence Standfield

A private family gathering was held at the Domian-Anderson Funeral Home in Bertha for Florence Edith Standfield, a resident of the Lakewood Systems Care Center in Staples and formerly of Bertha. Florence passed away at the age of 83 years on May 3, 2010 at the Care Center in Staples. Florence was born in Minneapolis, MN on March 16, 1927 to Nils and Ida (Emsel) Peterson. She was united in marriage with Clifford G. Hein in 1952 in Minnesota. Together they had 3 children. She married Jack K. Standfield on September 21, 1974 in South Dakota. They lived in Rhododendron, OR for 8 years and later for 6 years in Bertha until Jack’s death in 2007. She then moved into the Care Center in Staples for health reasons. Florence found work in number of jobs including as a factory worker, cook and homemaker. She won many state and county ribbons for her crocheting and knitting. Her cooking was well known and she made the best ham and bean soup, spaghetti and chow mein her family had ever tasted. She also enjoyed playing bingo and cards, music and dancing, collecting eagles and crosses, and had a great love for horses and dogs. Her main passion was reading books, books, books and more books. She never lost sight of her faith, no matter where life took her. Florence was preceded in death by her husband Jack Standfield on December 21, 2007; parents Nils and Ida Peterson; step-son Duane Standfield; brother Frank Peterson; sisters Esther Spiczka and Ann Sorgert; and her lovable, adorable dog Snooper. She is survived by her sons Rodney Hein of Mound and Timothy Hein of Wisconsin; daughter Robin Jean Viste of Hewitt; grandchildren Shane (Krissy) Ludovissie, Zachary (Missy) Ludovissie and Katie Lynn Hein; great-grandchildren Vincent Henry Ludovissie, Brookelyn Huisenga and Madden Huisenga; brother Algot (Ellen) Peterson of Deerwood; and sister Judy Kunshier of North Branch. She is also survived by her stepsons Craig (Carol), Randy (Tammy) and Kevin, all of Moundsview; and step-daughters Kathy (Don) Traczyc of Naswauk and Donette (Rick) Koons of Circle Pines. Honorary pallbearers were Shane Ludovissie, Zachary Ludovissie, Paul Rach, Jim Olson, Krissy Hernandez and Missy Huisenga. Mom and grandma, you will always be loved and will remain in our hearts forever.
