Geneva Trout Mykland

The Mass of Christian Burial for Geneva Trout Mykland, of Wadena, will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 26, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Wadena with Father Arlie Sowada as celebrant along with Deacon Jerry Snyder. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at the Johnson-Schuller Chapel in Wadena, with a Rosary at 5:00 and Prayers at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will resume at the church on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass. Geneva, age 89, passed away on Saturday, February 20, 2016. Geneva was born to Charles and Julia (Mashuga) Kohanek on August 21, 1926, in Browerville, MN. She left home at a young age and worked at various jobs, including at an airplane factory in the Twin Cities during World War II. Geneva was united in marriage with Clifford Trout on May 21, 1946, in Browerville, MN, They soon made their home on the farm in rural Wadena where they raised their family of eight...four boys and four girls. Geneva was a busy homemaker. She enjoyed sewing, baking and gardening. Her hobbies included fishing, camping and playing cards. Clifford and Geneva retired from farming in 1985 and built their home in Wadena in 1990. She was a member of Christian Mothers and the VFW Women’s Auxiliary. She had an infectious laugh that showed her love of life. Geneva took great pride in her family and treasured family gatherings. Clifford passed away on April 15, 1993. Geneva later married Lincoln “Mike” Mykland on April 20, 1996, in Wadena, MN. He passed away on January 9, 2013. Besides Clifford and Mike, Geneva was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Julia Kohanek; brothers Joseph, Edward, Herbert, Richard and Harold Kohanek; sisters Marie Dahlin and Dorothy Kohanek; step-son Gary Mykland; and step-grandson Anthony Mykland. She is survived by her children David (Elnora) Trout of Wadena, Carol (Marty) Wegscheid of Bluffton, Karlene (Jerry) Snyder of Wadena, Linda (Joel) Hagen of Cohasset, Roger (Patty) Trout of Virginia, MN, Beckie (David) Vorderbruggen of Wadena, John (Mary) Trout of Wadena, and Paul Trout (fiancée Kristi) of Fergus Falls; 29 grandchildren & 41 great-grandchildren; step-son Don (Mary) Mykland of Park Rapids; along with a step-grandson. Honorary pallbearers will be all of Geneva’s grandchildren. Serving as pallbearers will be Jeffrey Trout, Peter Hagen, Derek Trout, Darin Wegscheid, Luke Trout and Russell Trout. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Wadena, MN.
