George J. Lipinski

The Mass of Christian Burial for George Joseph Lipinski of Hewitt will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 3, at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Bluffton, with Father Aaron Kuhn as celebrant. Visitation will be held on Monday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the St. Ann's Parish Hall in Wadena, with Rosary at 6:00 and Parish Prayers at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will resume at the church in Bluffton on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass. After a valiant three year fight with cancer, George passed away at his home surrounded by his family, on Thursday evening, April 28, 2016 under the gentle care of Knute Nelson Home Healthcare and Hospice. George was born to George M. and Elizabeth “Betty” (Merdan) Lipinski on February 7, 1963 in St. Cloud, MN. He attended elementary school in Avon, MN. In 1976, his family purchased and moved to a dairy farm in Oak Valley Township in Hewitt. He graduated from Bertha-Hewitt High School in 1981. On August, 9, 1986, George was united in marriage to Marlene Schmitz at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Wadena. He farmed with his family and in 2004 bought the family dairy farm. Later in years he drove semi-truck while continuing to work the farm. He had many talents and was able to fix anything. He loved driving tractor and harvesting the crops. He did woodworking and added custom touches to his home and built outdoor furniture for sale. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, 4-wheeling and snowmobiling, as well as hanging out at friends cabins and socializing around the campfire. George was preceded in death by his father George M. Lipinski; grandfather George B. Lipinski, grandmother Catherine (step-grandfather Joseph) Merdan and grandparents Andrew and Frances Merdan. He will be forever missed by his wife Marlene; daughter Amanda (Daniel) Kimber of Bluffton, MN; sons Andrew and Anthony, both of Fargo, ND; mother Betty Lipinski of Hewitt; granddaughter Cassie Kimber; brothers Gerry (Deanna) of Hewitt and Thomas (Corinne) of Hallock; sisters Christine (Donald) Kassube of Eagle Bend, MN and Theresa (Dale) Topp of Hewitt; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Honorary pallbearers are Cassie Kimber, Alvin and Barb Finn, Gene and Brenda Roller, and Andy and Dionne Merkens. Pallbearers are Lonnie Finn, Brad Kempe, Phil Niehus, Wayne Schwartz, John Theis, and Eugene Jacobs. Burial will be in Oak Valley Cemetery, Hewitt, MN.
