The funeral service celebrating the life of Helen Coson will be held at 1:00p.m on Saturday, October 14, at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Wadena, with Pastor Dave Seaton presiding. Search Schuller Family Funeral Homes & Cremation Services ~~~~~~ With loving care by her family and Knute Nelson Hospice, Helen went to be with her Lord at the age of 94 on October 4, 2023, at her daughter’s home in Pequot Lakes, MN. Helen Irene Smith was born to Vincent and Selma (May) Smith on May 9, 1929. In high school, Helen known as “Smitty” was very involved in cheerleading, Class plays and participated in choir and Triple Trio for three years. Helen and Archie Coson were married on July 8, 1978, at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Wadena and made their home west of town. The Wadena community will remember Helen as the friendly salesperson at the S&L Department Store for 30 years and as the manager and activity director at the Senior Citizens Center for 30 years, before retiring at the young age of 87. She was a member of Eastern Star, VFW Women’s Auxiliary, and sang in the choir at the First Congregational United Church of Christ. Preceding Helen in death were her husband, Archie (2021); parents, Vincent and Selma; seven siblings; and two great grandchildren, Libby Belvill and Garret Lane. She leaves behind her loving children: Barb (Bob) Wenzler of Florida, Michael Borchardt of St. Cloud, Roxanne (Fred) Soukup of Pequot Lakes, Pam (Jim) Malone of Milaca, and Tim (Danielle Henkel) Borchardt of Minneapolis; 14 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, & 4 great-great-grandchildren; precious sisters, Rosella Rudy and Deloris Quick; several nieces and nephews; Archie’s children: Gary Coson, Dawn (Mike) Pettit, and Debbie (Leroy) Larson; along with a host of friends. Serving as casket bearers will be Troy Borchardt, Trevor Borchardt, Brandon Olson, Mike Soukup, Ryan Malone and Braydon Lane. Burial will be in Wadena Cemetery in Wadena, MN.
