Janet Mallak

Funeral services for Janet Mallak, 57, were held on October 15, 2004 at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Bertha with Reverend William F. Moeller, Jr. officiating, three days after what would have been her 58th birthday and three days before her and Isadore's 37th wedding anniversary. Janet Idell Chromey was born in Glenwood, MN on October 12, 1946 to Norbert and Lucille (Garvin) Chromey. She married Isadore Andrew Mallak, October 18, 1967, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Grey Eagle, MN. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Bertha. Janet died Sunday, October 10, 2004 at her home surrounded by her family. Janet was a strong and courageous woman, who put up an incredible 13 month fight with her cancer. She was able to spend her last few days of her life with her husband, children, grandchildren, family and friends. She was a beloved and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a kind, generous and friendly person, an avid reader and a great cook. Her recipes are used and enjoyed by many. Janet is survived by her husband Isadore; mother Lucille Ehrenberg, Little Falls; children: Mrs. Stacie (Glen) Hatten, Seoul, Korea; Mrs. Michelle (Jim) Oates, Anchorage, Alaska; Mrs. Kimberly (Barry) Venable, Woodridge, Virginia; Mrs. Carol (Johann) Neuman, Moore, Oklahoma; Terri Mallak, Minot, North Dakota; Janet Mallak, Thief River Falls; and Isadore Mallak Jr., Bertha; and her eight grandchildren: Jessica, KaLee, Tyler, Alyssa, Andrew, Nathaniel, Joshua and Michael. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters: Richard Chromey, Little Falls; Gerald Chromey, Hewitt; Dean Chromey, Browerville; John Chromey, Fall Creek, Wisconsin; Mark Chromey, Alexandria; Mrs. Dianne (Alto) Finken, Cold Spring; Mrs. Beverly (Robert) Messinger, Little Falls; Mrs. Sharon Chromey, Seminole, Florida; and Mrs. Kay (Kevin) Ensman, Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was preceded in death by her father, Norbert Chromey; her sisters, Colleen Henrich and Hollis Chromey; her niece, Katie Zapzalka and her nephew, Jerrod Zapzalka. Pallbearers are Glen Hatten Jr., Jim Oates, Barry Venable, Johann Neuman, Mark Chromey, Travis Listul and Isadore Mallak Jr. Honorary Pallbearers are Jessica, Alyssa and Andrew Hatten; KaLee and Tyler Oates; Nathaniel and Joshua Venable; and Micheal Neuman.
