The memorial service celebrating the life of Judy Condiff of Wadena will be held at 11:00a.m. on Friday, January 17, at the St. John Lutheran Church in Wadena, with Pastor Stephen Meltzer presiding. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 9:30a.m. until the time of the service. She was born the daughter of Albert and Hope (Rice) Schmiedeberg in Hallock, MN, on September 18, 1938. She grew up on Long Lake in Park Rapids, MN and graduated from Park Rapids High School as the class salutatorian at the age of 16. She married her high school sweetheart, Gary Condiff on June 1, 1957, in Park Rapids. Judy enjoyed working as a legal secretary, owned her own printing business, and later traveled as a speaker for Christian Women's Clubs. She volunteered at the local food shelf, served on the library board, and in many areas of her church. She never tired of "playing in the dirt" and sharing her ever expanding and beautiful gardens. She was a champion Scrabble player and often had a dozen online games going at once. She was known for the personal and thoughtful homemade cards she sent for every occasion. She had a love of reading and authored her own book, "A Collection of Life Stories" which has been a family best seller. More than anything, she loved the Lord and her family. Judy will always be remembered for her compassionate heart, listening ear, and acts of kindness to many. In her honor we will continue the annual 4th of July swim across the bay at Big Mantrap Lake that she has led the whole family in every year, including this past summer at the age of 85! Surviving Judy are her husband of 67 years, Gary; children: Mark (Cindy) Condiff, Wendy (Denis) Frost, Kari (Casey) Callahan, Annie (Christopher) Crowe, and Carla (Niels) Schaumann; grandchildren: Emily Condiff (Pedro), Kyle Condiff, Hannah Frost (Landon), Rebekah Auth (Tom), Kellie Frost, Abby Klug (Mark), Sam Callahan (Siennah), Casey Lien (Amanda), Jack Lien (Darby), Karl Schaumann (Stephanie), and Erik Schaumann; great-grandchildren: Saylor, Kamryn, Eli, Cora, and Madeline; sisters Julienne (Carl) Malm and Liana Claymore; sister-in-law Jan (Sam) Pike, and many special nieces, nephews, and friends. Preceding Judy in death were her parents, Albert and Hope Schmiedeberg; step-mother, Virginia Schmiedeberg; sister, JoAnn Elavsky; and brother; Alan Schmiedeberg. Well done, good and faithful servant.
