Larry "Corky" Anderson

Services for Larry "Cork" Anderson will be held on Friday, January 25, 2013 at the Christian & Missionary Alliance Church in Verndale at 11:00 a.m. Friends may call at the Johnson-Schuller Chapel in Wadena on Thursday, January 24, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. and at the church on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Surrounded by his family, Larry passed away at the age of 76, on January 20, 2013 at his home in Verndale. Larry “Cork” Allen Anderson was born on August 23, 1936 to Clarence and Emma (Davis) in Verndale, MN. He was united in marriage with Ruth Neuschwander on July 6, 1957 at the United Methodist Church in Verndale. They made their home in in the area where Cork was a business owner for 25 years and drove school bus for over 51 years. He belonged to the National Guards (14 years), the Lions Club (46 years), volunteer fire department (23 years), along with being a charter member of the Wadena Elks Club, Lakewood Health Foundation Board and Methodist Church Board. He used his free time fishing, hunting and as an avid sports fan. He loved spending time with his granddaughters and family, morning coffee gossip with friends, and time at his cabin on Big Pine Lake. He loved his hunting shack and appreciated nature while in the woods. Everyone who met Corky never forgot him. He was always willing to help anyone. He especially loved to pick-on and tease people, almost as much as telling his huge fish stories! Cork was preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Emma “Tootie”; and infant son Kevin Allen Anderson. Cork is survived by his loving wife Ruth; daughters Sandee Anderson of Minneapolis and Michelle (Chuck) Goddard of Verndale; granddaughters Alexandra, Ashley, Kristin and Andreana & great-granddaughter Brooke (the love of his life!); brother Roland of Staples; brother-in-law & sisters-in-law Jim & Janice, and Barb Neuschwander; along with several nieces & nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be Roger Anderson, the members of the Verndale Lions Club, and Verndale Fire Department. Serving as pallbearers will be , Rodney Anderson, Brad Anderson, Davin Anderson, Mark Neuschwander Scott Neuschwander, Gary Neuschwander and Rick Finn. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Verndale. The family suggests memorials be made to the Verndale Dollars for Scholars or the American Diabetes Association.
