Luann McGrane

The funeral service celebrating the life of Luann McGrane of Wadena, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday March 31, at the Motley Free Methodist Church in Motley with Pastor Jim Johnson presiding. Visitation will be held on Monday, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the Johnson-Schuller Chapel in Wadena and will resume at the church in Motley on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be at 2:00 p.m. in Calvary Cemetery, Wadena, MN. Luann, age 74, passed away on March 20, 2026, near Browerville, MN, with family and friends at her bedside and compassionate care by Lakewood Hospice along with Frank and Cheryl Tepley. Luann was born to Leonard and Luella (Korfe) Pankratz on July 17, 1951, in Bertha, MN. Her parents were Baptist and Mennonite which began her strong foundation of faith. She and her brothers worked hard on the farm often following the ways similar to the Amish, including hand-picking rocks and butchering chickens. Luann remembered walking to the local country school and later graduated from Staples High School. Kenneth McGrane returned from the Vietnam war and soon met Luann. On February 9, 1973, they were married at the Assembly of God Church in Verndale. They made their home in Wadena and eventually took over her parents’ farm. Ken passed away in 1992, and after a few years of renting the farm out, Luann moved to Osceola, IA, before returning to Minnesota where she retired to be closer to her children. Her interests included baking and working with flowers. Most of all she treasured her faith and her family. The words of Psalms and Corinthians brought her strength and comfort over the years. Preceding Luann in death were her husband, Kenneth; parents, Leonard and Luella; and parents-in-law, Leonard and Catherine McGrane; and other secondary family. Remembering Luann will be her children: Roxann (Brent)Alt of Bertha, Kevin McGrane of Perham, Kerry (Scott Deadrick) McGrane of Wadena and Christine (Daniel Reyes) McGrane of Wolverton; four grandchildren Tyler(Jamie) Preuss, Cody Preuss, Jacob Weappa, and Kadynce Weappa; two great grandchildren; brothers, Roger (Lois) Pankratz, and Don (Donna) Pankratz; sister Rosalie (Larry) Fearing; and a host of extended family and friends. Honorary casket bearers will be Cody Preuss, Kadynce Weappa, Dan Korfe, Darin Pankratz, Van Pankratz, Jerry Korfe, and Frank and Cheryl Tepley. Serving as casket bearers will be Kevin McGrane, Brent Alt, Tyler Preuss, Jacob Weappa, Micheal McGrane and Darwin McGrane.
