LuEtta Olson

LuEtta Rose Olson, 72, moved from her beloved earthly home in rural Bluegrass to her beautiful heavenly home on the morning of December 2, 2007. Thanks to Hospice and her friends and family, she was able to die in the house she was born in on February 11, 1935. Cancer was the cause of her death. She was the daughter of Carl J. Olson and Esther (Bakken) Olson. She attended Country School # 57 and graduated from Verndale High School in 1953. Due to her high scores in secretarial and bookkeeping skills, she got a job with Minneapolis South High School, where she worked for 30 years. Later, she worked at the Badoura Tree Farm. A devoted daughter, she returned home to take care of her widowed mother. They were a happy pair, enjoying many shared interests including gardening, flower arranging, feeding the birds and deer, sewing and needlework, and being involved with many activities at church, especially missionary support. She filled leadership roles at Hope Chapel, Alliance Women and Christian Women's organizations. Lu's faith in Jesus was the defining factor of her life. Lu was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents, John and Mary Olson, and Ole and Dora Bakken; aunts and uncles, Clarence Bakken, Oliver Bakken, Oscar Olson, and Art and Emma Olson, their daughter Ella (Tom) Windorpski, Jennie (Bill) Nissen, and Thelma (Rudy) Helland. She is survived by aunt, Helen (Oliver) Bakken of Binford, ND.; cousins, Joan Bakken(Tom) Greenwood, Moore, OK., Janell Bakken (Alan) Haag of Los Gatos, CA., and their families, Arden (Marianne) Helland of Pasadena, MD., David (Wealtha) Helland of Rockford, IL., Lowell (Nancy) Helland of Jessie, ND., and Karen Helland (Bob) Nordvall of Bismarck, ND., and their families; her dear church family at Hope Chapel, and her many wonderful neighbors. Honorary pallbearers will be Lu's many friends from Minneapolis and this community. Active pallbearers will be Bob Johnson, Howard Tellin, Dennis Gordon, Jake Uselman, Bill Kern, and Bill Zondlo. Funeral services will be held at 10:30AM on Thursday, December 6, 2007, at Hope Chapel, rural Verndale, with Pastor Neal Malcore officiating. Interment will be at Wing River Union Cemetery, rural Bluegrass, Minnnesota.
