Marcella Mohs

The Mass of Christian Burial for Marcella Mohs of Wadena, will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 14, 2015, at the St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Wadena, with Father Aaron Kuhn as celebrant. Friends may call on Thursday at the St. Ann’s Parish Hall in Wadena from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. with Prayers at 6:00 and Christian Mother’s Rosary at 7:00. Visitation will resume at the church on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass. Surrounded by her family, Marcella passed away on Monday, August 10, 2015, at her home in Wadena, with the gentle care of Legacy Hospice of Wadena. Marcella was born to Joseph and Rose (Karst) Gilgenbach on June 22, 1930 in Wahpeton, ND. She attended and graduated from Wahpeton High School. Marcella was united in marriage with Alfred Mohs on December 29, 1951, in Wahpeton. They made their home in Wadena where Marcella will be remembered by many as “Grandma Mardee”, a foster grandma. Everyone also recalls her famous cookies and spending time with friends at the Boondocks Cafe'. She also had a talent for making felt Christmas stockings and beautiful needlepoint items. Over the years, Marcella enjoyed her travels to Ireland, Rome, Austria, Switzerland and Germany. She was a member of Christian Mothers and the VFW Auxiliary. Marcella was preceded in death by her husband Alfred on August 7, 1995; her parents Joseph and Rose; brothers John, Elmer and Herman Gilgenbach; and sisters Lenora Baumer, Marie Klubberud, Lucile Althoff and JoAnn Berg. She is survived by her children Glenn (Janet) of Milwaukee, Jan (Lois) of St. Cloud, Kevin (Mary) of Moorhead, Dan (Pat) of St. Charles, Brenda (Mike) Kruger of Ham Lake, Bridget Mohs of St. Cloud and Bonnie (Jeffrey) Evans of Wadena; 13 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; brother Matthew Gilgenbach; sisters Rosemary Robinson, Bernice Rieber and Elizabeth Gust; brother-in-law Martin Mohs; sisters-in-law Eileen Mohs and Clara Olsen; extended family Karen, Gail, Tom and Gary Klubberud; along with a host of friends and relatives. Honorary pallbearers will be Marcella’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Serving as pallbearers will be Kory Mohs, Jonathan Mohs, Justin Evans, Joshua Mohs, Kyle Mohs and Jacob Evans. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Wadena, MN.
