Maria Zutter

The Mass of Christian Burial for Maria Zutter of Wadena, will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Wadena with Father Donald Wagner as celebrant. Friends may call on Monday at the Johnson-Schuller Chapel in Wadena from 5:00-8:00 p.m., with Parish Prayers at 6:00 and Rosary at 7:00 p.m., and at the church on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass. Maria passed away at the age of 88, at the Perham Hospital on Tuesday, January 22, 2013, surrounded by her loving family. Maria DeVooght Zutter was born on October 10, 1924 to Alphonse and Marie (LeBrun) DeVooght in Brussels, Belgium. Maria was one of thirteen children. She was baptized and raised in the Catholic Church. She loved attending the Catholic Church and watching church services on TV. Maria married Melvin L. Zutter in 1948 in Brussels during WW II. Their oldest son John was born in Brussels. They returned to central Minnesota where Melvin’s family was from. Maria and Melvin had six children, three boys and three girls. She was a homemaker until her youngest children were in high school. She worked at Shady Lane Nursing Home in Wadena until her retirement. Maria resided the past four years at the assisted living home, Heritage House, in Sebeka. Maria was preceded in death by her parents Alphonse and Marie; her siblings; her beloved daughter Yvonne; beloved son Timothy; and grandson Bradley Melvin. She is survived by her sons John (Melissa) and Greg (Cathy) both of New York Mills; daughters Yvette Zutter of Staples and Rhonda (Dave) Puttonen of Sebeka; grandchildren Shawn, Chad, Naomi, Sharnel, Sam, Alicia, Janae, Jamie, Jennifer, Chanse, Tessa, Sara, Greg, Jr, Crystal, Emily, Demetric, Kyle and Jenna & numerous great-grandchildren; along with a host of friends. Maria will continue to be loved and dearly missed. Honorary pallbearers will be Jean Claude DeVooght, and Maria’s grandchildren & great-grandchildren. Serving as pallbearers will be Chad Zutter, Samuel Zutter, Chanse Digiovanni, Greg Zutter, Demetric Puttonen, Kyle Puttonen, Paul Richter, Lawrence Lubitz, Cole Puttonen and Caleb Puttonen. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Wadena.
