Marlys McIntire

The funeral service celebrating the life of Marlys McIntire, of Wadena, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday at the New Life Church of God in Bertha, with Pastor Jason Knoll presiding. Visitation will be held at the church on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Marlys Ann McIntire, age 79, entered into rest on September 24, 2022, unexpectedly and far too soon. Marlys was born on September 29, 1942 to Leonard and Rosalle Lowers in Bertha, MN. She graduated from Bertha High School in 1961. Marlys married Robert Milton McIntire in 1962 and they were blessed with two sons, Robert and Wade. Marlys began her journey working for Singer Sewing Co. and then Northwestern Bell as a telephone operator. We remember numerous calls to the operator asking for the correct time only in hopes of her answering. After 17 years with Northwestern Bell she decided it was more important being home to raise her children. She was a master homemaker, very skilled in the kitchen as well as an excellent seamstress and avid gardener, but most of all a kind, loving and extremely patient mother. She was a wonderful friend and neighbor to many people in Wadena and was there to lend a hand whether asked or not. She was quite a prankster and loved making people laugh. Marlys gladly hemmed your jeans for you, but you may end up with a pocket sewed shut just for a smile. Her quilting skills were unbelievable! Her quilting gifts had a wide reach to many veterans, grandchildren and newborns throughout the country. Marlys was a wonderful mother, and super grandma. She was a beautiful person and we all have special memories of her. She leaves a great void in our hearts. Although we will miss her terribly we are grateful she is at peace and reunited with Robert. Her pride and joy were her grandchildren and she loved sharing stories of them and passing down her wisdom and laughter. Marlys leaves behind her sons, Robert Jr. (Vickie) of Richmond, MN, Wade (Darlene) of Lake Elmo, MN; grandchildren, Corey, Sarah, Timothy, Kyla, Kaitlin and Kristin; nieces and nephews, cousins, and numerous close friends. Preceding Marlys was her husband, Robert; parents, Leonard and Rosalle Lowers; brothers: Herbert, Roger and Leonard Jr. Lowers. She will be dearly missed by the family and many friends. She was an angel to many of us. God now has another angel on the throne with him to help watch over her family and friends. Burial will be in Zion Cemetery, Bertha, MN.
