Michael Shawn Coon

A gathering of family and friends celebrating the life of Michael Coon of Wadena, will be held from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m.at on Saturday, September 28, at the Memorial Auditorium in Wadena. Pastor Nathan Currier will lead a time of sharing and prayers beginning at 2:30. Our sweet, sweet boy, Michael Shawn Coon was born to loving parents, Kelly Lee Lodahl and Shawn Michael Coon on November 14, 2008, at Tri-County Hospital in Wadena, MN. Even as a baby he was so happy and full of life. Michael always smiled, helped others, pulled shenanigans, danced and sang! He attended Wadena-Deer Creek Public School until January 2024, when he switched to the Alternative Learning Center. He liked joking around, playing basketball and playing video games with his friends, whom he loved so very much; Michael Briggs, Caleb Erickson, Camron Ole, and Dinico Polan. Michael especially loved spending time with his little sister, Jordyn. Although less than three years apart, they were like twins. In fact, Michael and Jordyn often referred to each other as “twin”. He loved life and lived it to the fullest until July 17, when he was a passenger in an motor vehicle accident. At age 15, he put in a good fight until September 3, 2024, when God called him home. Preceding Michael in death was his sister, Taylynn Shay Coon. He will be so very, very missed by all who knew and loved him. Michael was and still is the greatest son, brother, grandson, friend, nephew, and boyfriend we all could have ever asked for. Forever 15 our boy will always be. We love and miss you Bubba. Fly high our sweet, sweet boy. Forever remembering Michael will be his devoted parents, Shawn and Kelly; siblings: Brittany Colbert of Boulder, CO, Miranda Coon of Osakis, Tricia Coon of Bertha and Jordyn Coon of Wadena; Chaz Kruse, Layla Kruse, Hunter Kruse and Elizabeth Kruse; grandparents, Alan and Mary Burkness of Nimrod, Cheryl Taugue of Apache Junction, AZ, and Kim Lodahl of Wyoming, MN; great grandmother, Lila Burkness of Elk River; aunt Kris Krejci, cousins, Devon Krejci, Kenzie Hommerding (Layne) and Megan Spitzska; five nephews and six nieces; along with extended family. He is also survived by loving friends, Michael Briggs, Cameron Oie, Caleb Erickson, Dinico Polan, Jacob Perez, Tyrell Huesmann, TeaShawn Anderson, and girlfriend, Justine Lutze. Honorary urn bearers will be all who called him friend.
