Myrna Johnson

The graveside funeral service for Myrna Johnson of Clarissa will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 8, at the Hope Cemetery in Eagle Bend, with Pastor Kali Christensen. Visitation will be held on Saturday at the Domian-Anderson Chapel in Bertha from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Myrna passed away on Wednesday, August 5, 2020, at The Landings in Sauk Rapids, MN, under the compassionate care of Heartland Hospice. Myrna was born to Emil and Luella (Rasmussen) Reierson on July 14, 1928, in Eagle Bend, MN. She was united in marriage with Everett “Sonny” Austin Johnson on March 3, 1946 in Eagle Bend. She was a faithful member of Faith Lutheran Church and WELCA, and was a talented member of a sewing circle stitching quilts for missions. Myrna left a legacy to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a hard working farm wife who worked alongside her loving husband, Everett, whom she adored. Proverbs 31:28 & 29 says it best. She was a homemaker who made the best caramel rolls, fried chicken and according to her grandchildren the most delicious farmhouse breakfast. She loved her flowers, always bringing home plantings to beautify their yard. Her most important role in life was to be the best wife and mother. But, to be truthful, her light shone most when it came to her grandchildren. Her family came first even to the end as she listened to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren gather together visiting, laughing and sharing memories. Myrna was an honest, genuine, faith-filled woman, kind in her words and actions. She was a brave woman who surprised all of us with her strength and will to choose her time, surprising even hospice care givers. Myrna was deeply loved, not only by her family, but others who came into her life. She was a blessing to all of us and we celebrate her death knowing she is walking hand in hand with her beloved husband, Sonny. Our deepest thank you to Heartland Hospice and The Landings Assisted Living, who so lovingly took care of her, especially the last month of her life. Preceding Myrna in death were her husband Everett on June 8, 2005; parents Emil and Luella; siblings Lyla Murch, Marge Hess, Marlys Christiansen and Dennis Reierson; brothers-in-law Bob Murch, Leo Hess and Don Christiansen. Memories of Myrna will be held dear by her children Gary (Beverly) Johnson of Eagle Bend, Gene (Roxy) Johnson of Sauk Rapids, Karen (Steve) Irlbeck of St. Cloud, Kathy (Russ) VanHeel of Clarissa, Chuck (Teri) Johnson of Maple Grove, Bruce (Chris) Johnson of Anoka and Cheryl (Kiev) Motl of Sauk Rapids; 21 grandchildren and 46 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Joan Reierson; along with special friends Butch and Colleen Johnson of Wadena. Serving as pallbearers will be her granddaughters, Stacy Berger, Jessica Kloster, Bethany Stern, Brittney Chon, Chelsea Lahr and Amber Davis.
