Oscar Andrews

The funeral service for Oscar Andrews will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 27, 2013, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wadena, with Pastor Nate Loer presiding. Friends may call on Monday from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the Johnson-Schuller Chapel in Wadena. Visitation will resume at the church on Tuesday from 9:30a.m. until the time of service. Oscar passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, August 22, 2013. He was 59 years old. Oscar Kenneth Andrews was born to Cecil and Betty (Larson) Andrews on May 11, 1954 in Martin, SD. He served in the Minnesota National Guard from 1975 to 1978. He attended the Detroit Lakes Area Vocational Technical School, completing the Architectural Drafting course in 1976. Oscar and Debra Lynn Neisess were married on June 2, 1979, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wadena. They made their home in rural Wadena where Oscar owned and operated his successful cabinet and furniture making business. His interests were varied, as he enjoyed gardening, grilling, fishing, hunting, camping. Activities also included playing darts, beanbag toss, air guns, Polish golf, cards and photography. Time spent with family was what he treasured most. Oscar was a member of the American Legion in Sebeka and a couples card club. Oscar was preceded in death by his father Cecil; an infant sister Robin; and father-in-law Donald Neisess. Oscar is survived by his loving wife Deb of Wadena; son Ryan Kasey Andrews of Wadena; daughters Karissa Leigh (David) Darling and Lynsey Joi Andrews both of Clear Lake; grandchildren Ruby Mae Darling and Jasper David Darling; mother Betty Andrews; brothers Rick of Helena, MT, Reece (Tammy) of Arlington, NE, and Roy (Kim) of Chesterfield, MI; sisters June (Dale) Erickson of Wadena, Janine (Ray) Hewlett of Vulcan, MI and Reva (Mark) Kleiman of Wilson, MI; mother-in-law Iona (Loren) Fiskum of Wadena; brothers-in-law Ron (Corrine) Neisess and Rick (Lori) Neisess; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Oscar’s two grandchildren, his nieces and nephews, and his “Deer Camp” family. Serving as pallbearers will be Carl Kiser, Butch Larson, Jim Whiteford, Rod Huttunen, Dean Krogstad and Jesse Larson. Military honors will be provided by the Berg-Nyland Post 456, Sebeka American Legion, Sebeka, MN.
