Phyllis Beving

The funeral service for Phyllis Beving of Wadena will be held at 11:00a.m. on Thursday, September 18, 2014, at the United Methodist Church in Wadena, with Pastor Jean-Claude Duncan officiating. Friends may call on Wednesday from 4:00-8:00p.m. at the Johnson-Schuller Chapel in Wadena. Visitation will resume at the church on Thursday from 9:30a.m. until the time of service. Phyllis passed away at the age of 94, on Saturday, September 13, 2014, at Fair Oaks Lodge in Wadena, MN. Phyllis Margaret Boylan was born at home in Leaf River Township on July 10, 1920, to Mamie (Reed) and Frank LeRoy “Roy” Boylan. She graduated from high school at the age of 16. Phyllis was united in marriage on February 10, 1939, to John “Jack” Beving in the home where she was born. Phyllis and Jack farmed in Leaf River Township for many, many years and raised five children, Jim, Roger, Ramona, Marlene, and John. The whole family was involved in the Leaf River Builders 4-H Club. Phyllis was a sewing machine operator at Homecrest for many years. After retiring from Homecrest and farming, Phyllis and Jack loved to travel, visiting family members across the country. Phyllis was an avid reader and collector of romance novels. As a little girl, she attended the Leaf River Sew N Sew Club with her mother, who was a founding member, and continued as a member for the rest of her days. She was also a lifelong member of the Wadena United Methodist Church. Phyllis was an independent and giving woman who enjoyed life and loved her family. Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband John on May 31, 1987; parents Frank and Mamie; son James; daughter Ramona Luoma; brother Joseph Boylan; sisters Anne Christopherson, Eva Bauer, and Grace Johnson; and grandsons Donald and Craig Beving. She is survived by sons Roger (Janet) Beving, Rockford, Il, and John Beving, Fargo, ND; daughter Marlene (Allen) Keller, Coon Rapids; son-in-law Warner (Diane) Luoma, Wadena; daughter-in-law Diane Beving, St. Paul; eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren & two great-great-grandchildren; along with many other relatives and friends Honorary pallbearers will be Bradley Beving, Derek Beving, Kari Beving and Denise Keller. Serving as pallbearers will be Bruce Alt, Kenneth Beving, Alex Johnson, Gail Johnson, Jeremiah Keller and Joseph Keller. Burial will be in the Wadena Cemetery.
