Richard Hlatky

The funeral service celebrating the life of Richard Hlatky of Eagle Bend will be held at 11:00a.m. on Thursday, November 7, at the Faith Lutheran Church in Eagle Bend with Pastor Kali Christensen presiding. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5:00 until 7:00p.m. at the Domian-Anderson Chapel in Bertha and will resume at the church on Thursday from 9:30a.m. until the time of the service. Richard was born to Robert and Marjorie (Line) Hlatky on March 13, 1945, in Bertha, MN. He attended Clarissa Public School graduating in 1963, and continued his education at Staples Technical School in the Heavy Equipment and Mechanic program. On August 27, 1967, Richard and DeVona “Dee” May Harnack were united in marriage at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Eagle Bend. In the early years, Richard worked as a heavy equipment operator and drove truck over-the-road before working the next 42 years alongside Dee on the family's dairy farm just northwest of Eagle Bend. An avid outdoorsman, Richard enjoyed time fishing, hunting and camping. He was skilled at blacksmithing /iron work, welding and woodworking. He also dedicated 21 years as a Wykeham Township Supervisor. Preceding Richard in death were his parents, Robert and Marjorie; and an infant brother, Stanley. Forever remembering Richard will be his wife, Dee of Eagle Bend; children, James (fiancée Sue) Hlatky of Long Prairie, John (Paulette) Hlatky of Motley, JoDee (Jarrod) Christianson of Victoria and Justin Hlatky of Bertha; grandchildren, Amber (Austin)Kraft, Payton (Kylie) Hlatky, Coby Christianson, Kyra Christianson, and Tyce Christianson; two great-granddaughters; along with sisters, Jeanette Owens and Susie (Daryl) Doulong both of Palestine, TX. Honorary casket bearers will be Coby Christianson, Kyra Christianson, Tyce Christianson, Amber Kraft, Kylie Hlatky, Rusty Kincade, Steve Gjerstad and Greg Harren. Serving as casket bearers will be James Hlatky, Payton Hlatky, Austin Kraft, A.J. Froslie, Jarrod Christianson, Ben Harnack, Mike Ahrens and Charlie Beechy.
