Roger Wolf

Roger James Wolf age 73 of Eagle Bend passed away on the afternoon of March 2, 2017 at the Tri-County Health Care Hospital in Wadena, MN. Roger was born on November 6, 1943 to Gasper and Dorthea (Miller) Wolf in rural Raymond Township, Minnesota. As one of 14 children, Roger was a helping hand on the farm where he was raised. Roger, a Vietnam War era veteran, joined the Minnesota National Guard in 1963 where he served his country for 6 years. After his active duty he finished his high school academics. On December 21, 1963, while on leave from active duty, Roger married Kathleen “Mitzi” Burger at Petri Lutheran Church in Eagle Bend. Roger and Kathy lived in Fridley until 1974 as they started their family. Feeling the need to return to the country life, Roger and Kathy moved to a small farm in Eagle Bend. For many years, Roger farmed and worked at Central Bi-Products while their family grew to five children. Later, Roger hauled milk for local farmers while working for Mid-America. In 2001, Roger fully retired and moved into the town of Eagle Bend. Roger enjoyed fishing throughout his life and loved sharing the experience with his family. He appreciated the relaxing peace and conversation that could be found on his favorite area lakes. In his retirement he enjoyed bird watching and touring Eagle Bend on his golf cart with his grandchildren. Throughout his life, he was always ready to help others and provide for his family. Roger is survived by his wife of 53 years Kathy Wolf of Eagle Bend; his five children and spouses, Todd (Cari) Wolf of Eagle Bend, Brenda (Mike) Patterson of Waseca, Lori Kyar of Clarissa, Tara (Kris) Bussman of Cannon Falls, Troy (Emily) Wolf of Eagle Bend; 12 grandchildren, Courtney, Keisha (Nick), Brett, Jorden, Chelsea, Evan, Allyson, Shantel, Anna, Marcus, Bryant, and Landon; 3 great-grandchildren, Tyler, Brayden, and Kale; brothers, Gasper Sr. (Lilian) Wolf of Browerville, Donald (Alice) Wolf of Eagle Bend, Daniel (Carolyn) Wolf of Eagle Bend, James Wolf of Coon Rapids, Calvin (Cindy) Wolf of Eagle Bend, Howard (Debra) Wolf of Eagle Bend; and sisters, Margaret Rausch of Illinois, Shirley (Art) Gadbaw of Eagle Bend, Alice Maland of Arizona, Elizabeth (Donald) Maland of South Dakota, and Betty Maland of Eagle Bend and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Gasper and Dorthea Wolf; his siblings, Walter and Dorothy; father and mother-in-law Marcus and Angeline Burger; brothers-in-law, John Maland, Kermit Maland, Eldon Maland, Bob Smith and Roy Rausch; and sister-in-law Sheila Wolf. Funeral services are to be held on March 7, at 11:00 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in Eagle Bend with Pastor Young Chung officiating. Visitation is to be held on March 6 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. and starting at 9:30 a.m. on the day of the service at the church. Active pallbearers are his grandsons Brett and Evan Wolf, nephews Curt and Cody Wolf, and family friends Christopher Salcido, and Dan Milbrett. Honorary pallbearers are Courtney Wolf, Keisha Otterstetter, Jorden Ahrendt, Chelsea Ahrendt, Allyson Bussman, Shantel Wolf, Anna Wolf, Marcus Wolf, Bryant Bussman, Landon Wolf, Tyler Wolf, Brayden Wolf, and Kale Ahrendt. Military honors provided by the MNAGHG assisted by American Legion Post 280 and VFW Post 6318 of Eagle Bend, along with the respectful presence of MN Patriot Guard. Interment is in the Hope Lutheran Cemetery at Eagle Bend.
