Ronald Notch

The Mass of Christian Burial for Ronald Notch, of rural Verndale, will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 6, at the St. Frederick’s Catholic Church in Verndale, with Father Lauren Germann as celebrant. Visitation will be held on Monday at the Schuller Family Funeral Homes’ Verndale Chapel from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., with Prayers at 6:00 and a Knights of Columbus Rosary at at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will resume on Tuesday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Ronald, age 80, passed away of natural causes on Tuesday, October 30, 2018, while enjoying the outdoors and chopping wood out on his property near Verndale, MN. Ronald was born to Henry and Josephine (Forner) Notch on September 12, 1938, in St. Cloud, MN. After completing high school he found his livelihood as a carpenter and in farming. Ronald and Florence Mary Riehm were united in marriage on April 23, 1960, in St. Cloud. They made their home in Avon before moving to Verndale in 1977. Ronald was a huge gardener and liked to share his bounty in his “free farmers’ market. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He was a frequent auction goer, and a talented woodworker. Most of all, he loved his family fiercely and enjoyed them around him whenever possible. Preceding Ronald in death were his parents Henry and Josephine; siblings Henry Notch Jr, Leander Notch and Delores Opatz; and sister-in-law Sandy Notch. Ronald is survived by his loving wife Florence; children Ronald (Sue) Notch Jr of Forest Lake, Randall (Lila) Notch of Verndale, Victoria (Mike) Giza of Santiago, Michelle (Dean) Johnson of Verndale, Sheila (Paul) Strommer of Chaska, Daniel (Katie) Notch of Stillwater, Melissa (Kevin) Notch-Kneisl of Inver Grove Heights, Paul Notch of Vadnais Heights, and Patricia (Jason) Davidson of Hudson, WI; 21 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; siblings Roseanne (Jerry) Genz of Detroit Lakes, Larry Notch and Gerry (Sue) Notch both of Avon. Pallbearers will be Roman Notch, Thomas Notch, Andrew Giza, Isaac Johnson, Parker Strommer, Christian Kneisl and Blaine Davidson. Honorary pallbearers will be Spencer Notch, Matthew Notch, Cory Giza, Elizabeth Johnson, Alicia Johnson, Bailey Notch, Maya Notch, Payton Strommer, Briana Kneisl, Logan Kneisl, Nolan Notch, Paige Davidson, Jessica Hinman, Janessa Weaver, Macoy Johnson, Maggy Johnson, Bria Hamen, Brysen Hamen, Hailey Giza, and Evy Hinman. Burial will be in St. Frederick’s Catholic Cemetery, Verndale, MN.
