Sandra Arildsen

The funeral service for Sandra Arildsen of Hewitt will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, July 13, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Bartlett Township, MN. Visitation will be held on Sunday at the Domian-Anderson Chapel in Bertha from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Visitation will resume at the church on Monday one hour prior to the service. Sandra passed away, at the age of 63, on July 8, 2015, at the St. Joseph’s Hospital in Brainerd, MN. Sandra was born to Fredrick and Phyllis (Johnston) Sellnow on December 6, 1951, at the Thiel Hospital in Bertha, MN. Sandy attended Country school in Stowe Prairie Township through 6th grade and completed high school at Bertha-Hewitt. She then attended Wadena Technical College for Business Administration. Over the years she completed various studies with the University of Maryland. Sandra was united in marriage with James P. Arildsen on March 22, 1975, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Bartlett Township. Throughout her life she always had a passion for horseback riding and many in the family claimed she rode horse before she walked. Her hobbies included fishing in warm weather, reading, cooking, vegetable canning, and bird-watching. Her greatest passion was meeting people and making friends when traveling and seeing the world with husband Jim, as he accepted multiple overseas and stateside posts. Together they traveled the globe exploring and experiencing all the wonderful things each region has to offer. In 1995 Jim & Sandy found their way back to central Minnesota and made their home outside of Hewitt, MN, on the farm where Sandy grew up. Sandy became a Realtor in 2004, and while serving the needs of her clients she also served the industry in various leadership positions including President of the Multiple Listing Service. She recently retired and was looking forward to enjoying her life with Jim and her extended family. May God Bless the Memory of Sandy Arildsen. Sandra was preceded in death by her father Fred, and a brother, James. She is survived by her husband James of Hewitt; mother Phyllis Sellnow of Bertha; brothers Bradley (Leane) Sellnow of Riverton, WY and Bruce (Rebecca) Sellnow of East Gull Lake; nephews Mark Sellnow, Shawn (Bridget) Sellnow, Chris Sellnow and Ross (Cassey) Sellnow; nieces Kelly Sellnow and Sarah (Shawn) Smith; along with nine great-nieces & nephews. Pallbearers will be Mark Sellnow, Shawn Sellnow, Chris Sellnow, Ross Sellnow, Cole Sellnow and Shawn Smith. Burial will be in the Minnesota Veterans Cemetery near Little Falls, MN.
