Steven Grewe

The Memorial Mass for Steve Grewe, a resident at the Mother of Mercy Care Center of Albany and formerly of Bertha, will be celebrated at 11:00a.m. on Friday, November 8, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Bertha. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday, from 9:30a.m. until the time of the Mass. Steven "Steve" Wayne Grewe was born to Ervin and Della (Zentz) Grewe on February 23, 1950, in Bertha, MN. Steven married Angela Mary Klimek on February 27, 1973, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Clarissa, MN. They made their home in the Bertha area where they operated their dairy farm. Steve was an honorable man. Whether it was serving our country in the Vietnam war, or the many life difficulties he had to face, Steve loved his family. His unwavering love and devotion to Angie is something that we should all inspire toward. When Angie had her accident Steve was her primary caretaker until he had a life altering accident. Steve dropped everything to be with Angie, so she could get the best care at a rehabilitation clinic in Colorado specializing in spinal cord injuries. He never complained of the adversities that his life had. He was a farmer and construction worker. Always willing to help you out, Steve was a jack of all trades and could fix/tweak tractors, cars, electrical, and do house remodeling projects. We will remember his love of all things motor sports, whether it be tractors, old muscle cars, ATV's, snowmobiles, race cars, or go karts. He often said, “the boys work hard and they get to play hard”, so they had many motorized toys. He rarely missed a go-cart race of Lily’s. Steve was interested in and very supportive of all his children and grandchildren's interests. He was a man of few words, but when Steve spoke you stopped to listen. We will forever miss his talks and words of wisdom. We don't know who was worse at the Minnesota goodbyes, Steve or Angie. They both followed you to the door to talk for another 30 minutes. We hope there is plenty of KFC in heaven and the good cherry nut ice cream for you! Preceding Steve in death were his wife of 50 years, Angie (9-22-2023); parents, Ervin and Della; in-laws Victor and Evangeline Klimek; children, Eric Grewe and Laura Grewe; grandson, Tyler; siblings, Ronald Grewe and Jerome Grewe; brother-in-law, Robert Stover; and sister-in-law, Ruth Berg. Steve will be remembered by his sons, Chad (Molly) Grewe of Albany and Justin (Lori) Grewe and kids of Bertha; grandchildren, Jordan Grewe, Lily (Max) Snyder and Alex Grewe; great-grandchildren, Kristen Grewe, Braxton Grewe and Vivienne Snyder; siblings: Sharon Stover, Sandra (Richard) St. Martin, Kathleen (Jerry) Neck, Duane (Roberta) Grewe, Kevin (Randy) Grewe, Brian (Mal) Grewe, and Debra Grewe; sisters-in-law, Karen Grewe and Florence Grewe; longtime friends, Gary and Cindy Richter; along with many cousins, nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank to all the wonderful healthcare workers that gave Steve tender care, compassion, and friendship over the last 14 years. Steve loved to razz the nursing staff with his antics. There wasn’t a time when we visited that the nursing staff didn’t have a story to tell of him pranking them. Always trying to put a smile on their faces. Serving as urn bearers will be Chad Grewe, Justin Grewe and Ben Rudrud. Honorary urn bearers will be Jordan Grewe, Lily Snyder, and Alex Grewe.
