The funeral service celebrating the life of Willis “Bill” Amundson will be held at 11:00a.m. on Friday, December 20, at the Domian-Anderson Chapel in Bertha. Visitation will be held at the Chapel on Friday, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Willis, known as Bill, was born to Carl and Bertha (Ricklefs) Amundson on June 27, 1931, at Bertha, MN. He attended Woodside Township country school before graduating in 1949 at Bertha High School. Bill married Donna Mae Haase on July 9, 1950, in Bertha. He made his livelihood as a manager in the milk production industry. Away from work he enjoyed deer hunting, duck hunting, and fishing with his family. He had a passion for playing the fiddle, competing and winning many contests across the state. Bill and Donna traveled throughout the US and internationally with numerous trips including their grandchildren. They also enjoyed attending square dance sessions over the years. Bill had been an active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Bertha and served as Chairman of the Bertha-Hewitt School Board. Preceding Bill in death were his parents, Carl and Bertha; infant son, Charles; infant granddaughter, Donna Marie Hoffman; and siblings: Glen Amundson, Alta Fischer and Lorraine Shanstrom. Surviving Bill are his wife, Donna of Alexandria; children: David (Rhonda) Amundson of Grand Rapids, Eric (Karen) Amundson of Alexandria, Marie (Martin) Dicke of Rosemount and Karen (Brian) Hodnefield of Arvada, CO; 13 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, & one great-great-grandchild; along with extended family and friends. Serving as casket bearers will be Brent Hoffman, Evan Amundson, John Amundson, Paul Amundson, Carl Amundson, and Isaac Smith. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials in Bill’s name be directed to Woodcrest Assisted Living Center, 1201 Ridgeview Terrace, Alexandria, MN.
