Alice Piepho

April 9, 1928 - March 6, 2022

The Life Celebration for Alice Piepho will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 20, at Faith Lutheran Church, Eagle Bend, MN. A gathering of family and friends will begin at 12:30p.m. until the time of service. There will be a lunch served following the service. Alice Adella (Terry) Piepho, age 93, transitioned to her heavenly home on Sunday, March 6, 2022. Her family and friends knew her to be kind, loving, generous, an avid gardener and follower of Christ. Alice was born on April 9, 1928, to Lillie Bell (Rumelhart) Terry and Orien Milford Terry in Sheldon, IA. Her dad and mom owned many businesses and lived in many different places throughout Alice’s young life; perhaps where her entrepreneurial spirit and love for travel got its start. She earned her elementary teaching license from Normal school, Fergus Falls, MN. Alice taught 3rd, 4th and 5th graders for several years in Wendell, MN. Thereafter, she and her husband, Clarence purchased a dairy farm in Eagle Bend, MN. Alice was devoted to raising their five children: Kenneth, Rodney, Connie, Daniel and Ricky and helping with the daily demands of their dairy farm. She didn’t find fault, even in difficult times; she chose instead to rise and shine with the promise of a new day. Well into her mid 80’s, Alice was involved in community activities: Farmer’s Union, 4-H, Helping Hand, Friendship Homemaker, Sow & Grow Garden, United Church of Christ Women’s Guild, Women’s Bowling League, The Mommas’ and the Pappas’ Bowling League, Double Eagle Golf League, VFW Auxiliary, Central Todd County Care Center and Eagle Bend Senior Citizen Center, often serving as an officer and/or on the board. She enjoyed the fellowship and purpose of each of the organizations and felt it was important to be involved; to serve the community if one were able. Alice and Clarence’s travels covered most, if not all of the 50 states, with Hawaii being Alice’s favorite. They also visited: Canada, Mexico City, Guadalajara, Mazatlan and loved cruising to most of the Caribbean Islands and Alaska’s Inside Passage. Alice enjoyed seeing Paris, London and playing miniature golf at St. Andrews and attending the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo in Scotland. Even with all of her travel adventures, Alice was most happy in her home and community surrounded by family and friends. One family tradition of celebrating Labor Day weekend together continues today, 37 years running, with Alice creating card-playing bingo, complete with prizes. Her love for her family was unconditional and Alice was filled with thanksgiving for the life she was given here on earth and for the promise of eternal life with Jesus. We don’t know for sure, but it is truly believed upon seeing Alice on March 6, Our Lord replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Enter into the joy of your Lord.’ Matthew 25:21. This we do know, if Alice is in charge of many things, she will serve without complaint, with only joy and thanksgiving in her heart! Alice was proceeded in death by her husband; son, Rodney Clarence Piepho; daughter-in-law, Twyla Lennes Piepho; brother, Wendell Terry; sister-in-law, Eva Sharp Terry; nieces: Mary Terry and Teresa Terry Kaste; and great-grandchild, Devlyn Voss. She is survived by sons: Kenneth (Patricia Goff), Daniel (Debra Randgaard), and Ricky (Valerie Bren); and daughter, Connie (Stephen Bren); grandchildren: Kristine (Jack Sharrett), Scott, Bobbie Jo, Kevin (Yvonne Motzko), Chad (Angela Kolas), Travis and Shelby Piepho and Alison Peterson; great-grandchildren: Aria and Jackson Sharrett, Dylan, Derrek, Calen, Josette, Dawson and Cole Piepho and Courtney, Madyson, Alyssa (Sky Kohl) and Tyler Kolas; great-great-grandchild Stella Kohl. Interment was beside her beloved husband, Clarence, at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, MN.
