Beatrice, 91, passed away peacefully July 6, 2020, in the loving hands of her family, caring staff at the Fair Oaks Lodge, and Knute Nelson Hospice. Beatrice Laverne Erickson was born to Elmer and Cora (Bengston) Erickson on November 12, 1928 in Homestead Township, Otter Tail County. She graduated Sebeka High School in 1948. Bea met Gene Beyer while working at the Wadena Cafe. They were married on October 22, 1949, and made their home in Wadena for most of their lives. In 1972, they purchased a farm eight miles north of Bluffton. In 1991, due to Gene’s Parkinson’s disease, they retired and moved back to Wadena. Beatrice committed much of her life to her husband and family. She enjoyed Bible worship, and kept her hands busy with knitting, embroidery, baking, and the endless tasks of farm life. She was employed as a teacher’s aide, home health care provider, and master nursing assistant. But her true calling was caregiving. Big parts of that were caring of Gene thru’ almost 40 years of Parkinson's affliction and hospice care for her mother. Bea was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Gene (December 11, 2010); parents Elmer and Cora; brothers Lester and Don; and grandson Paul Beyer. Beatrice is survived by sons Richard (Barbara) of Alexandria, Raymond (Dorothy) of Wadena, Rodney (Brenda) of North Richland Hills, TX, Scott (Jill) of Jamestown, ND, and Darwin (Angie) of Wanamingo; 12 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; along with a host of friends. Pallbearers are her grandsons, Brian, Chris, Dan, Derek, Eric, Jason, Jon, and William Beyer. Honorary pallbearer is grandson, Paul Beyer †. Burial will be in Wadena Cemetery.
