Darlene Hosner

April 4, 1937 - November 6, 2020

Visitation with family and friends will be held on Sunday, November 15, from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. at the Johnson-Schuller Chapel in Wadena. The graveside funeral service will be held privately, with Pastor Brian Malvig and Pastor Vaughn White presiding. Burial will be next to her husband in Wadena Cemetery, Wadena, MN. Pallbearers are her Grandsons.    Loving memories of Darlene will be held by her daughters: Nancy (John) Wilkins of Drummond, MT; Kristi (Brad) Ice of Wadena; Wendy (Rich) Schreiner of Yokota Air Force Base, Japan; grandchildren: Alicia (Jeremy) Mygland; Andy (Destinee) Wilkins; Sarah (Bob) Suthers; Emily (Jack Ballantyne) Wilkins; Josh (Kim) Ice; Nicole (Scott) Endres; Brandon (Erin) Ice; Tyler (Gina) Ice; Nick (Whitney) Molitor; Amanda (Brian) Ericksen; Elizabeth (Greg) Troje; 24 great-grandchildren, with 2 more expected; other relatives and a host of friends.     Darlene Marian Hosner was born on April 4, 1937 in Wadena, Minnesota. Her parents were Chester and Marian (Sillanpa) Bagdons. Darlene grew up in both Little Falls and Wadena. She graduated from high school in Wadena. Darlene was united in marriage to Gene Hosner on September 3, 1955 at the Apostolic Lutheran Church in New York Mills, Minnesota. Their marriage was blessed with three daughters. They resided in Wadena, Minnesota, Fishhook Lake in Park Rapids, then later lived in Edmond, Oklahoma, Flower Mound Texas and Eagan, Minnesota before returning to Wadena for retirement. When Darlene was eleven, she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and it was evident throughout the years, as she fully “lived life” everywhere they were and made a positive impact on all neighbors and communities they were in. Darlene attended Bemidji State University and studied art. She managed the business office of her husband’s construction company and lumber yard. Darlene filled her days caring for family and volunteered her time leading multiple groups including, Girl Scouts, Wednesday School, Sunday School, Fellowship, Bible Study and Eye to Eye.  She was a special feature presenter for Christian Women events, talented artist, and an active member of the Red Hat Ladies.  She enjoyed painting, traveling, and entertaining inside and outside her home. On November 6, 2020 Darlene went to heaven from her home with family by her side at 83 years of age. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Preceding Darlene in death were her beloved husband Gene, her parents Chester and Marian Bagdons, and in-laws David and Grace Hosner.     A special thank you to Knute Nelson Hospice for their compassionate support and care.
