Esther Holmquist Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

The funeral service for Esther Holmquist of Henning, formerly of Wadena will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at the Schuller Family Funeral Homes’ Johnson-Schuller Chapel in Wadena with Pastor Dave Seaton presiding. Visitation will be held on Tuesday one hour prior to the service. Esther, 98, left her earthly home on Saturday, December 28, 2019 at Our Home Your Home in Henning, MN. Esther was born December 15, 1921 to Mike and Josephine Hopp. She spent her early life near Wadena. She married Russell Holmquist April 14, 1941. They farmed south of Aldrich & lived together there until Russell's death in 1986. After three years on the farm by herself, she sold the farm and resided in Wadena. She is survived by her daughters Dorothy Colianni, Mavis (Rich) Kendall, Joyce (Gene) Johnson, along with several grandchildren & great grandchildren. She was proceeded in death by her special son, Kenneth, a grandson and son-in-law Joe. Esther was blessed with an abundance of brothers and sisters and is survived by her brother Raymond. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Frances, Cecelia, Margaret, Genevieve, Rose, Ann, Catherine, and Donna; brothers Nicholas, Joseph, Herbert and Sylvester. In Esther’s last years, she lived very comfortably in assisted living with Jodi and Beno Lohse at "Our Home Your Home" in Henning. The family cannot thank them enough for their wonderful, compassionate care. A private burial will be in Balsamlund Lutheran Cemetery, Aldrich, MN.
