James "Jim" Richter

August 26, 1928 - July 19, 2018

The Mass of Christian Burial for James “Jim” Richter of Wadena will be celebrated at 11: 00 a.m. on Monday, July 30, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Wadena, with Father Aaron Kuhn, Father Tom Carkhuff and Father Mitchell Bechtold as co-celebrants. Visitation will be held in St. Ann’s Parish Hall on Sunday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m., with Prayers at 6:00 and a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will resume at the church on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass. James “Jim” Richter, 89, beloved Father, was called to his eternal resting place on July 19, 2018. Jim was born to Peter and Margaret Richter on August 26, 1928, at their home near Wadena MN. He was united in marriage with Virginia "Ginny" (Wegscheid) on June 14, 1949, in Bluffton MN. They made their home and raised their family near Wadena. Jim was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, who spent long hours on his dairy farm. Jim loved Jesus, farming, collecting antique tractors, threshing shows, toy trains, praying, visiting, and watching EWTN. Jim had a great sense of humor and loved telling stories! Jim was preceded in death by his wife Ginny, parents; Peter and Margaret; daughters: Ruthie and Lucy; brothers: Ray, Bob Ed, Don; and sisters: Eleanor and Mary. He is survived by his daughters: Margie (Jarry) Cole of Annandale, Carol Mois (Graham Ouimet) of Stacy, Mary (Gene) Denny of Hewitt, and Janet (Brian) Spreiter of Baxter; sons: Dennis (Barb) of Verndale, Ronald (Janice) of Long Prairie, Gary (Cindy) of Hewitt, Joe (Pam) of Hewitt and Nick (Sheri) of Sartell. Jim has 36 grandchildren, 63 great-grandchildren, and 2 on the way. He is also survived by his brothers: Jack (Judy) and Arnie (Carolyn); sisters: Veronica Behman, Jane (Ervin) Weber and Sophia Roser; along with numerous nieces and nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be all of Jim’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Active pallbearers will be Sarah Schelonka, Tyna Richter, Christen Hess, Brenda Larsen, Kimberly Bendaris, Stacy Kern, Jamie Forbord, Traci Richter and Jaqueline Horstmann. Jim will be buried in the Calvary Cemetery in Wadena. Jim requested that memorials be made for masses. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The family extends a special thank you to Martina Hendrickson for her love, devotion and faithfulness in caring for Virginia & Jim for many years.
