The funeral Mass for Kem Kern of Verndale will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 21, at the St. Frederick’s Catholic Church in Verndale, with Father Laurn Germann as celebrant. Visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. Kem Robert Kern, age 63, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, March 17, 2017 at his home. He was born January 8, 1954 in Wadena, MN to Robert and Ernestina (Yungbauer) Kern.   Kem was united in marriage to Vickie Peltier, on July 12, 1973. Kem was a jack of all trades and held various jobs throughout his life including: road construction, oil fields, farm mechanic, welder and  asphalt worker but working in the farm field was his favorite. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming and spending time with family and friends. His grandchildren were his pride and joy.   Kem was preceded in death by his parents. Kem is survived by his wife, Vickie; son, Dan Kern, Verndale, MN; daughter Teri (Jason) Bessler, Frazee, MN; grandchildren, Courtney Kern, Alexa Kern, Avery Kern, Allyson Bessler and Joshua Bessler; brothers, Tony Kern and Joe Kern; along with sisters, Becky (Mickey) Daniels, Julie (Dave) Orlando, Donna (Roland) Roth, andLinda (Joe) McIntire. Honorary pallbearers will be Dave Orlando and Mike Olson. Serving as pallbearers will be Mickey Daniels, Roland Roth, Kurt Mauer, Tim Peltier, Joe McIntire and Jim Peltier. Burial will be in St. Frederick’s Catholic Cemetery, Verndale, MN.
