Lucille Hennagir

February 16, 1944 - July 27, 2019

The funeral service for Lucille (Lucy) Hennagir of Parkers Prairie, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 31, 2019 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Parkers Prairie, with Pastor Kirk Lee presiding. A visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Lunch immediately following the service. Lucy, 75, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Saturday, July 27, 2019. Lucy was born to Sidney and Anna (Sulheim) Mathistad on February 16, 1944, in Butterfield, MN. She attended Rural School District 33 in Watonwan County. She graduated in 1962 from Butterfield High School. Later in life she attended Alexandria Tech and received her Boiler Engineers License. She was united in marriage with William (Bill) Hennagir on December 12, 1964 at the United Congregational Church in Oak Valley. She worked in multiple places through-out the years, including Northwestern Bell Telcom in Minneapolis, Bertha Memorial Hospital, Homecrest Industries in Wadena, Weibye Upholstery, and the Bertha-Hewitt School. Family was everything to Lucy. Her favorite time of year was deer season where she looked forward to having her family altogether. Lucy was known for having a green thumb and enjoyed watching her hummingbirds in the flower garden. She was an avid baker and always out did herself at Christmas time. Her banana bread was one of her most famous recipes and was loved by many. Lucy loved watching her grandkids participate in their school sports activities. On Sunday afternoon you would find her watching her favorite football team, the MN Vikings, which you would also find her yelling at the TV during those games, too. She also cherished the memories of the two trips she and Bill took with the marching band. Lucy was an active member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church and also the American Legion Auxiliary. Lucy was preceded in death by her husband Bill, her parents, Sidney and Anna; and daughter-in-law, Sonya Hennagir. Surviving Lucy are her children, Tim (Kayla) of Nevis, Craig (Julie) of Staples, and Tracey (Bruce) Elfering of Paynesville; 5 grandchildren, Ben, Anna, Joseph, Dakota, and Skylar; brothers, Lowell (Phyllis) of Butterfield, and Kenneth (Kathy) of Mt. Lake; sister, Janet (Myron) Henze of Cleveland, MN; brothers-in-law, Herb (Darlene) Hennagir, Jerry Hennagir and Max Klemek; along with an abundance of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Honorary pallbearers will be all Lucy’s relatives and friends. Active pallbearers will be Ben Hennagir, Anna Hennagir, Joseph Elfering, Dakota Hennagir, Tim Bowman and Keith Bowman. Burial will be in Oak Valley Cemetery, Wrightstown, MN.
