Marilynn Esther (Larusso) Dickinson, a caring and loving mother, grandmother, wife, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully to join the Lord in Heaven on September 10th, 2021, at Bethany Retirement Living, Fargo, ND. She was under the comforting care of Ethos - Hospice of Fargo, ND Marilynn was born on May 3, 1937 to Benjamin and Josephine (Schifando) Larusso in Rahway, New Jersey. She graduated from Rahway High School in 1955. Marilynn and her late husband of 23 years, Thomas Dickinson, Sr., raised their four children in New Jersey before moving to Minnesota in 1977. Marilynn graduated from St. Cloud State University in 1989 and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education. Earlier, she attended Central Bible College in Springfield, Missouri where she was a member of the Revival Time Choir that traveled across the country performing and was also broadcast on the radio every week. As an Early Childhood Educator, she became an ally and an icon to new parents throughout the region. Marilynn turned her passion for family into a career and poured her love into the families of the surrounding communities. Marilynn was a very talented painter and loved to paint on pretty much any canvas, with watercolor being her favorite. She will be remembered fondly by family and friends for the beautiful hand-painted greeting cards and gifts Marilynn sent on special occasions or “just because”. In her free time, Marilynn loved gardening and planting flowers. She loved playing the piano at home and often at church. She also loved dogs and always had treats handy for any pups that she would come across. Marilynn enjoyed celebrating her Italian heritage through cooking – her lasagna and stuffed shells were family favorites, but spaghetti and meatballs usually occurred for every Sunday lunch. She was preceded in death by Thomas Dickinson, Sr. in 2013; brother, Stephen Larusso in 1995, and Duffy Dickinson (her beloved dog) in 2020. She is survived by her four children Thomas Dickinson, Jr. (Vicki), Linda Goerdt (Greg), Timothy Dickinson (Dawn), and Stephen Dickinson (Hang); and 8 awesome grandchildren and 4 precious great-grandchildren. Her children would like to express their heartfelt appreciation for the staff at Bethany Retirement Living for all their care. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Wadena Humane Society, an organization she felt strongly about as they found a forever home for her dog, Duffy.
