Amos Duncan

The Mass of Christian Burial for Amos Duncan of Deer Creek will be celebrated at 11:00a.m. on Thursday, July 25, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Wadena, MN, with The Most Reverend Patrick Neary, Bishop of St. Cloud as celebrant. Visitation will be held at St. Ann’s Parish Hall on Wednesday from 5:00 until 8:00 with Prayers at 6:00 and a Rosary at 7:00p.m., Deacon Randy Altstadt presides. Visitation will resume at the church on Thursday from 9:30a.m. until the time of the Mass. It was easy to love Amos. His keen intellect, deep humor, and quick wit fueled many unexpected conversations which playfully ended with Amos’ trademark: a bright smile and a sparkle of the eye. A young renaissance man, he loved to share his insights with family and friends. A gifted PSEO student and tinkerer, Amos was turning his hobbies of metal forging, knife making, tool making, wood working and Arduino and Raspberry Pi programming into mechanical engineering studies. Amos enjoyed the company of his Catholic youth groups and served in various capacities at Mass. His tall, joyful presence and his promising young life ended by suicide on July 17, 2024. His scramjet design and his blast furnace project are now forever incomplete. Sorrowfully carrying him to his final resting place are Jonas, Aaron, Anika, Joel, Joseph, and Jacob, his siblings, and his friends David Freyholtz & Hunter Waln. Prayerfully carrying him to the merciful arms of Christ are his parents, Rev. Jean-Claude & Anne, his siblings Jonas (Katie), Aaron (Lydia), Anika, Joel, Joseph, Jacob, Samuel and Sarah, his grandparents Anna Duncan, Willis and Rosalie Thoen, his niece Emery, his nephew Luke, along with many good friends. Preceding him into eternal life are three unborn siblings and his grandfather, Thomas Duncan. Amos’ parents plead with teens secretly struggling with suicidal thoughts to reach out to a friend, talk to a trusted adult, or call or text the national suicide hotline at 988.
