Andy Bowman

The open house celebrating the life of Andy Bowman of Battle Lake will be held from 1:00 until 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 9th, at the Community Center in Bertha. A Time of Sharing will begin at 1:30 p.m. Andy was born to Leon and Shannon (Rehborg) Bowman on March 28, 1977, in Parkers Prairie, MN. Baptized and confirmed at Elmo Lutheran Church of Parkers Prairie. After graduating from Bertha School, he went on to attend 3 years of college to get his associates degree in auto mechanics. He worked as a mechanic at a variety of places including Alexandria, Bemidji, Rogers, and lastly at Nelson Ford in Fergus Falls. The coworkers, staff and management at all his employment locations had much respect for Andy and greatly admired his abilities and work ethic. As we all pretty much know, Andy was great fun to be around. Whether it was at family gatherings or with his drinking buddies from school. It was always a good time. He made many lifelong friends from school. This was so apparent with the notations in the 100+ birthday cards he received for his 49th birthday! When he had time, Andy spent much time tinkering and modifying things in his shed, he was so very “handy”. He was also an extremely good artist…everyone wanted to be on his team when Pictionary was played! He liked hunting, 4-wheeling, and mostly fishing. Andy also had many, many good times with his cousin, great buddy and best man at his wedding, Matt Rehborg. Andy first met Annabelle Lee while attending school in Bertha. At that time Andy’s sister, Candi, and Annabelle, were and still are best friends. However, Andy and Annabelle didn’t figure out until 12 years ago that they were meant to be together. So, in 2015, the two bought a house near Battle Lake and built their lives together with Annabelle’s daughters, Brianna and Samantha. One of the highlights of his life was being “Papa” to Aubree for the last 7 years. Andy and Annabelle married on March 21, 2026, with close family in attendance. It was a wonderful day. Andy knew that Annabelle was the best thing that had ever happened to him. He said to Annabelle when he proposed, “I should have done this a long time ago.” At the age of 49, Andy passed away on May 3, 2026, with family by his side at his home in Battle Lake, MN. Preceding Andy in death was his mother-in-law, Paulette Connolly; uncles David Bowman, Dean Bowman, Shorty Kingston, Frank Arnold, and Robert Nelson; aunt, Julie Saxon; cousin, Daniel Kingston; grandparents, Wayne and Hertha Bowman; great grandparents, Mathilda and Fred Schmidt, Ellen Bowman, and Roland and Mabel Schallock. Andy was lucky enough to know all his grandparents and great grandparents. Deeply loved, Andy will be remembered by his wife, Annabelle; stepdaughters, Brianna and Samantha; granddaughter, Aubree; Dad and Mom, Leon and Shannon Bowman of Parkers Prairie; sister, Candi (Aaron) Wangen of Parkers Prairie; grandparents, Roger and Jean Rehborg; nephews and niece, Max Wangen, Isaac Wangen, and Elizabeth Wangen; along with a host of extended family and friends.
