The memorial service celebrating the life of Dale E. Miller of Wadena, will be held at 11:00a.m. on Friday, May 16, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wadena, with Pastor Nate Loer presiding. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday, from 9:30a.m. until the time of the service. Born on September 18, 1936, in Aldrich Township, Dale was one of six children born to Stanley and Margeret Miller. He attended Verndale Public Schools until the age of 17, when he proudly enlisted in the United States Army. Dale served with honor during the Korean War and later served with the United States Air Force. Dale married Elizabeth “Liz” Loween on September 7, 1963. They made their home with their three children in a variety of places over the years before settling back in Wadena for the last time in1982. With a remarkable ability to fix just about anything, Dale was the “go to” guy for many friends and neighbors over the years. His curiosity and varied interests led him through multiple career paths, but he found particular fulfillment during his time working at Arctic Cat Enterprises. In 2005, he retired from the Minnesota State Department of Agriculture as a dedicated fruit and vegetable inspector. An avid outdoorsman, Dale found joy in the quiet of nature. He loved hunting and fishing and took great pleasure in passing those traditions on to his grandchildren. Each summer he looked forward to cultivating a thriving garden and sharing with all. Dale was a member of VFW Post 3922 and Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wadena. He was actively involved in the Empty Stocking Fund for many years and was a proud member and sponsor of the Verndale Alcoholics Anonymous Organization. Dale will be remembered for his generous spirit, his great wit and storytelling abilities, his boundless knowledge and his enduring love for his family. His legacy lives on in the memories shared by those who knew and loved him. Preceding Dale in death were his parents, Stanley and Margaret; son, Paul; brothers, Tom Miller and Gary Miller; sisters, Linda Miller and Marie Johnson. Surviving Dale are his wife of 61 years, Liz; daughter, Pam (Larry) Carlson; son Wade Miller; grandchildren, Eric and Emily Carlson; brother, Ben (Miriam) Miller; sisters-in-law, Rena Miller and Janice Miller; along with many special nieces and nephews. Military honors will be provided by MNAGHG and the Elmer Goche Post 3922, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Wadena, MN.
