Floyd "Ed" Moore

The funeral celebrating the life of Floyd "Ed" Moore of Bertha will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at the New Life Church of God in Bertha with Pastor Jeff Moore and Lanny McAlister presiding. Friends may call at the church from 11:00 AM until the time of services on Saturday. Ed passed away at the age of 83 years on Saturday, November 26, 2022 at the St. William's Living Center in Parkers Prairie, MN with his family at his side and under the gentle care of Douglas County Hospice. Floyd Edward Moore was born on October 28, 1939 at home in Tipp City, Ohio to Floyd and Hazel (Pearson) Moore. He graduated from Tipp City High School. Growing up on the farm, Ed was a very curious child who enjoyed working with his hands. He learned to repair equipment, care for animals, plant and harvest. He was known to be an adventurous young man and had many exciting times with friends and family. Ed was united in marriage with Joyce Mary Yahle on August 1, 1959 at his parents home in rural Tipp City. Ed worked as a farmer and at a plant nursery in Tipp City until moving to a farm outside of West Milton, Ohio when he also picked up the trade of plumbing. In 1974 they moved to rural Bertha, Minnesota. Ed loved growing everything. He enjoyed sharing the bounty of vegetables, fruits, and flowers. He passionately followed all of his grandchildren’s sports. Most of all he loved the Lord and taught each of his family members to share that love and the hope for God’s Kingdom. Ed was preceded in death by his parents Floyd and Hazel; grandson Logan McAlister; and sister Lois Moore. He is survived by his loving wife of over 63 years, Joyce; children Sherry (Lanny) McAlister of Cleveland, South Carolina, Jeff (Terri) Moore of Verndale, Lisa (Darrell) Hoemberg of Bertha, and Jennifer Moore of Bloomington; 11 grandchildren & 15 great-grandchildren; and brothers Jim (Charlene), Lee (Melody) and Steve (Betsy). Honorary casketbearers are Stacy Rouse, Drew McAlister, Bryan McAlister, Samuel Moore, Victoria Rennie, and Colleen Moore. Active casketbearers are Aaron Smith, Chad Smith, Shawn Hoemberg, Chelsey Braaten, Jared Hoemberg, and Martin Braaten. Interment is in the Zion Cemetery, Bertha, MN. A special thank you goes to the staff and caretakers at the St. William’s Living Center and Douglas County Hospice.
