Harvey Wright

The memorial service for Harvey Wright, of Wadena, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday January 3, 2017, at the Wadena Alliance Church in Wadena, with Reverend Vaughn White and Reverend Daryl Jacobson presiding. Visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Harvey, 89, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at Lakewood Hospice Suites in Staples, MN. Harvey was born to Charlie and Bertha (Moffet) Wright on June 18, 1927, in Woodside Township, Otter Tail County, MN. He grew up near Wrightstown and attended District #68 Country School through the eighth grade. Harvey worked by helping area farmers and at age 17 became employed by Johnson Brothers Garage in Bertha as a mechanic. At age 18, he worked for a farmer in Page, ND. In the fall of 1945, Harvey served in the US Army until his honorable discharge November 19, 1946. After returning stateside, he met Agnete Elizabeth Elless in 1950 and they were united in marriage on July 5, 1952 in the Lutheran Church in Staples. While raising a family Harvey worked at Peterson-Biddick Company from 1950-1953, at Northern Co-op as a driver and later as a mechanic until retiring in 1984. Harvey’s interests included playing Kittenball, fishing, hunting, and attending his grandchildren's sporting events. He enjoyed the outdoors when ice fishing and snowmobiling. He loved to dance and said his greatest joy came from being with his family - children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He participated in 4-H and the England Prairie Club. Harvey was preceded in death by his beloved wife Agnete on March 20, 2015; parents Charlie and Bertha; brothers Melvin, Westly and Lawrence; and sisters Mabel and Pearl. He is survived by his sons Douglas (Debra) of Wadena, Danny (JoAnne) of Inverness, FL, Dennis (Joan) of Verndale and Dean of Wadena; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild on the way; along with a host of friends and neighbors. Honorary pallbearers will be Jason Wright, Todd Wright, Scott Wright, Kylee Wright, Christina Wright and Jessica Wright. Military honors will be provided by Elmer Goche Post 3922, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Wadena, MN. Burial will be next to his wife in Woodside Cemetery, near Wrightstown, MN.
