Jean Murch

The funeral service celebrating the life of Jean Murch of Eagle Bend will be held at 10:30a.m. on Friday, January 5, at the Domian-Anderson Chapel in Bertha. Visitation will be held at the chapel on Friday, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Schuller Family Funeral Homes & Cremation Services invites you to view Jean's service via out Facebook page. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Just days after her 83rd birthday, Jean passed away peacefully on December 16, 2023, at the Central Todd County Care Center, Clarissa, MN, with loving care by her family, staff and Lakewood Health System Hospice. Jean Carol Eckel was born December 12, 1940, at her Grandpa and Grandma Babler’s home in rural Eagle Bend, MN. Her parents were William and Lillian (Babler) Eckel. She attended country school and later attended Eagle Bend High School. There, she met Eugene Murch, and the rest is history. She worked at the Eagle Bend Café, in order to buy herself a class ring. At the age of 16, Jean graduated from EBHS in 1957, and married Eugene in 1958. Jean followed Eugene to France (military station), where Tom and Jim were born. The family moved back to Eagle Bend in 1963, where Mona and Amy were born. Jean worked at Klug’s Café, Weibye’s Grocery Store, Citizen’s State Bank, and later got her CDL license in order to drive truck with Eugene. She was an amazing cook, and loved to prepare beautiful table settings with lots of food and family around. She was always busy; gardening, needlepoint, painting, sewing, shopping and traveling. She loved her grandchildren the most. Preceding Jean in death were her parents; husband, Eugene; and brother, Gerald Eckel. She is survived by her children: Tom (Brenda) Murch of Goodyear, AZ; Jim (Jill) Murch of La Habra, CA, Mona (Art) Navalta of Colorado Springs, CO; and Amy (Chris) Johnson of Sauk Rapids, MN; 11 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren; sisters, Bev Pehrson and Jeanette Smith; and brother John (Linda) Eckel. Pallbearers are Anthony and Austin Murch, Cole Navalta, Darrius Robinson, D’Ante Haywood, and Jeff Eckel. Burial with be in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, Little Falls, MN. Memorials in Jean's name may be directed to the Eagle Bend Fire and Rescue, or Central Todd County Care Center Activity department.
