LeRoy Messer

The funeral service for LeRoy Messer will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, June 10, 2016 at the Domian-Anderson Chapel in Bertha with Pastor Darrell Jacobson presiding. Friends may call on Thursday, June 9, 2016 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM at the chapel and on Friday from 11:30 AM until the time of the service. LeRoy passed away on Monday, June 6, 2016 at Lakewood Care Center in Staples. LeRoy Messer was born on November 21, 1936 in Long Prairie to Lewis and Clara (Kliem) Messer. He attended country school in Germania Township until the end of 6th grade. He began his 7th grade year at Staples High School, but ended his high school years at Bertha-Hewitt High School. On December 9, 1954 he married the love of his life, Beverly Hennagir. LeRoy worked as a dairy representative for over 40 years. He worked in all aspects of the dairy industry, from testing the milk to going out to the farmers. LeRoy drove bus for B-H Transportation, taking students to and from school for many years. He was a lifetime member of the NRA and the National Trappers Association. He managed the Bertha Blazer Baseball League as well as the Bertha Horseshoe League for many years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and trapping. He liked playing a good game of horseshoe and enjoyed bowling. He enjoyed the pastime of baseball, both watching and playing the game. LeRoy celebrated his life being an amazing husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Clara; and grandson, Andrew Messer. LeRoy will be greatly missed by loving wife, Beverly; children, Randy (Debbie) of Duluth, Nick of Bertha, Angie Bertrum-Messer of Hewitt, Mitch (Kelly) Messer of Swanville, and Lisa (Jim) Tasto of Rice; grandchildren, Justin (Ashley) of Audubon, Monica (Cody) Spear of Alexandria, Gavin of Swanville, Caleb of Alexandria, Zachary (Jacque) of Duluth, Christopher of Duluth, Sarah and Nick Tasto of St. Cloud, Mackenzy, Alyssa, and Mason Tasto of Rice, Whitney and Aaron of Hewitt; great-grandchildren, Matilda and Roland Messer of Audubon, Zoey and Owen Spear of Alexandria, Beckett Messer of Swanville, Sydney, Zigmund, Maverick Messer of Duluth, Louie Messer of Duluth, Ivory Tasto of St. Cloud, and Vanessa Tasto of Rice.
