Stacy Hundeby

A Celebration of Life for Stacy Hundeby, age 15 of Wadena, will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at the Wadena Alliance Church with Pastor Aaron Andrews presiding. Visitation will be held Monday at the church from 6:00 until 8:00 PM and will resume on Tuesday from 12:30 until the time of services. Stacy, at the age of 15, and her beloved K-9 companion, Bronson, died tragically on Saturday, April 16, 2016, from injuries sustained in a train / pedestrian incident in Wadena, MN. Stacy was born to Teodora Stacheva Mateva on October 13, 2000 in Minneapolis, MN. Teodora was united in marriage with Joseph Hundeby on August 23, 2008, at the Royalton Park, Royalton, MN, by Honorable Judge Hoolihan of Benton County, MN. They made their home in St. Cloud before moving to Wadena in Stacy’s 7th grade year. She has been attending Wadena-Deer Creek School where she enjoyed art and reading, and participated in FFA. Stacy proved to have an artist’s heart and temperament from an early age. She was a deep thinker with a desire to understand the world around her. She analyzed and created things that interested her. She found value in creating, rather than going to a store or to the internet to purchase items. Her school assignments were often adorned with doodles and thoughts. Stacy gravitated toward animals, starting with wolves, dogs, and cats, then eventually developed a passion for horses. She and Joe searched extensively for the right dog before Bronson, a beautiful black lab, entered their lives. She enjoyed the times spent playing and walking with him. Stacy valued her friends. She had a desire to help them with their problems without wanting them to be concerned with hers. She made friends easily and would walk into a situation, start asking questions, and before you knew it, gained a new friend in the process. She has been described by many as a girl with a big heart. She was very kind, well liked, fun to be around, along with being very compassionate. Stacy had a variety of interests including: cooking, sewing, puzzles, her friends, making forts in the hay mound, riding horses, her cats Rosy and Kitty, antiques and garage saling. Stacy will be greatly missed by her family and those who were given the gift of being able to call her friend. Stacy is survived by her mother Teodora Mateva and father Joseph Hundeby of Wadena; brothers, Calvin Reed Hundeby and Niles Joseph Hundeby of St. Cloud; grandparents, Srebrina Mateva and Stancho Matev of Kazanlak, Bulgaria, and Eugene Hundeby of Zumbrota, MN; uncles Nikolay Matev of Kazanlak, Bulgaria and Frank (Toni) Burgin of Minneapolis; aunts Jeannine Hundeby of Minneapolis, MN, and Colleen (Jeff) Bentson of Florida; along with many cousins and friends. Stacy was preceded in death by her grandmother Patricia Mary Hundeby on January 10, 2015.
