Todd Eckel

The funeral service for Todd Eckel of Eagle Bend, MN, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 29 at the Prairie Event Center in Parkers Prairie, with Robb Oyster presiding. Visitation will be held at the Event Center on Thursday one hour prior to the time of service. At home and surrounded by family, Todd passed away very peacefully on December 21, 2016. Todd Richard Eckel was born to Doyle Arthur and Doris Marie (Brateng) Eckel on February 10, 1982, in the Parkers Prairie Hospital. He graduated with the Class of 2000 from Eagle Valley High School in Eagle Bend, MN, Todd had the spirit of an entrepreneur at a young age, starting his own computer business before high school graduation. Todd married his loving wife, Jennifer Christopherson, on June 6, 2003. Todd & Jennifer owned Hometown Foods & Meats in Eagle Bend and Parkers Prairie. On March 13, 2006, Todd & Jennifer adopted their son, Saul Richard Eckel, from Colombia, South America. Todd, Jennifer & Saul enjoyed nature hikes, visits to the zoo, caring for animals, and most importantly being together as a close-knit family. Todd became a certified Emergency Medical Technician and worked as an EMT for the Renville Ambulance Service in Renville, MN. Later, he was the Deli Manager at Mike's Food Center in St. Charles, MN. His career came to an abrupt end due to health limitations after being diagnosed with lupus and rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Soon after, Todd, Jennifer & Saul returned to the Eagle Bend area to be closer to family. Todd courageously fought complications of lupus, RA, and transverse myelitis. Caring for rescue birds/parrots and growing orchid plants were helpful diversions for Todd these last years. At home and surrounded by family, Todd passed away very peacefully on December 21, 2016. Todd is survived by his devoted wife, Jennifer Robin Eckel; son, Saul Richard Eckel; parents, Doyle & Doris Eckel; brothers Jon (Kathy), Tad (Stacy), Jay (Stephanie), Ted (Amy), & Tom (Michelle); sister, JulieLynn Eckel; as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and special friends. The family extends a special thank you to Dr. Dylan Folkestad of Henning Medical Clinic, Knute Nelson Home Care & Hospice, Meridian Home Care Services, & Accurate Home Care. Honorary pallbearers will be Ted Eckel, Tom Eckel, JulieLynn Eckel, Titus Eckel, Tyler Eckel, Jon Eckel and Robb Oyster. Active pallbearers will be Justin Eckel, Jay Eckel, Tad Eckel, Ethan Eckel, Travis Eckel, Corey Wilson, Jasper Oyster and Adam Stoeker. Burial will be in Eagle Bend Cemetery, Eagle Bend, MN.
